Vaterra Ascender - Perfectly imperfect

So even though I am preparing for a comp and have the budget pushed over there, I can't help but look at stuff.

I am conflicted!!

What style of wheels do I go with?

I was pretty certain on the slot mags, but every photo I look at of other Blazers has either Rallys or circular holes. That, too me personally was always a Ford look, but maybe I am wrong?? 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'll have to order whatever I decide on. If it's SSD I can order through my LHS to bring it in from Amain.

SSD Steel Slot Wheel

SSD 8 Hole Wheel

I think I would just finish them off with scale hardware and the solid cap. I haven't had good luck with the scale hub locking nuts.
Maybe play with Vanquish hubs if I need weight or a better stance.

Opinions?

I brought a fleet with me to the Crawl Center yesterday evening. The place was packed so I didn't get to do a lot of filming, it was shoulder to shoulder in a few spots. I kinda expected that since it's been closed for a few weeks and this was the first time it's been open since before the Swap Meet.

The Ascender did pretty good at the entry and navigating up until the difficulty starts to ramp up. I would have driven it more but I ran into an issue right away; servo induced brown out.

There's a new Spektrum servo in there, running off a Castle MMP with the BEC set around 7.2 if I remember correctly; it's run a lot of servos without issue. This is the first I have run into where it shuts down, or perhaps this terrain just exposed it in a way I never noticed before?

Towards the end of the video you can see the wheels not turning, what you cannot see is my confusion about what is happening lol

Everything is SSD except hardware and hubs.
Brass 300 in the front and aluminum in the rear. SSD scale hub hardware and tool are next level.
I have used RC4WD scale hubs in the past and the fit of their tool was #2. To the point I stopped using them because I couldn't keep them tight.

I bumped the width out just a smidge with the Vanquish hubs, results are I'll have to trim a little off the fenders; up to the next line.

I also picked these up

But unfortunately they're not compatible with the Vanquish hardware; I would have to drill them out. It's something I can do, but I need a vise with soft jaws before I would try it.

Next thing. I need to address before the end of the month are the brown outs I was experiencing.
