Well last month i posted a thread about having lost compression on my new buggy engine within 1/4 gallon of fuel. So i sen it back to hpi for warranty and inspection. They just sent back my filter and header seal with a statement of what they found. Broke the engine down and found metal shavings all through it so they will replace my engine and sent filter and will ship engine seperately. So I'm happy to say that HPI's reputation for great customer service pulled through for me and makes me feel more confident in my purchase of one of there buggies. I do although want to call them next week and ask what exactly they found the shavings from. I also hope i dont have the same problem with the new engine when it arrives. :D

Oh and also they have the f4.6 engine stated as the replacement engine. I had a 3.5. So unless it was a mistake it looks like they are sending me an upgrade!!

Seems like I remember reading somewhere that HPI had 2 different 4.6s, the F4.6 and the K4.6. One of them was supposed to be really good and the other one not so much....I can't remember which one was which but if the F4.6 was the lower quality one it may not be all that good of an upgrade. I hope I'm wrong but I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

I think your right greywolf. The f4.6 is just the basic .28 of theres. The k4.6 with the purple head is the better of he two and comes stock on the smaller savage. But the trophy buggy i have came with a basic f3.5 so at least the basic 4.6 will be a bigger than stock engine until i can afford the werks racing engine i want. Also i believe the engine they are sending me is the f4.6 that comes stick on the D8S buggy.

Ahhhh I see....well in that case thats pretty cool. Id pick up a little bit bigger clutchbell then since you're gonna have extra torque :)

Well, I said that but I guess it would ultimately depend on how much torque it had with the 3.5 ^_^

I already bumped it up from a 13 tooth to a 15. Now i may grab a 17 tooth. The 3.5 actually seemed like it could have handled more than the 15. I stuck my garmin on it with the 13 and got 35mph and 40mph with the 15 tooth. And that was actually fast enough for the short course track i was running on.
