The over all effect was learned from this tutorial: http://forums.livingwithstyle.com/showthread.php?t=342065 - however I did find another tutorial that pretty much said the samething but also suggested going to Image > Adjustments > Curves to adjust the color of the photo making the photo look a lil more "fake" like.

Turned out ok for my first try.

wow, that's pretty nifty. Seems very simple too. Too bad I don't have that software. I'd like to try it out on a couple shots I took at Darlington a couple years ago.. those might look interesting
 
tilt-shift lens technique. You either spend mega $$$$$ on a tilt shift lens or you cheat and do that. I've got a couple that I was having an issue uploading last night, but that's the jist of it.
