The other day I was driving my trx4 sport on some trails and I accidentally tipped it and it rolled into a creek. The truck was fully submerged for about 5 seconds before I could get to it. After that it was not running at full power and was a lot slower. I have tried cleaning out the motor, making sure my esc isn’t in training mode, and have blown out my receiver and receiver box with compressed air. When this happened I was away from home so it was about 2 days before I could try problem solving. None of this has worked and I have no idea what to do.

Are the bearings seized at all?

How dirty was the water? My scx10ii used to go hard in the mud. I had the same issue and squirted water in the motor as I powered it. It worked for me so I am assuming the mud played part.

Maybe unplug the servo, lift the truck and try first, eliminate a possible servo issue.

The water was pretty clean and clear and was a freshwater mountain creek. I tried the servo idea but did not work. I also checked all my transmissions and diffs today but nothing worked. The car still runs about 50% power. Maybe I need a new motor? I am running 3s and I have heard that lipid sometimes burn out brushed motors faster.

Did you make sure its not stuck in training mode? Traxxas escs have full forward and reverse, 50 or 20% forward and reverse for training, and forward only for racing.

I know water wears down brush motors, but this seems to fast unless they used cheaper components.

If it is the motor, rc4wd and axial $10 a pop is my abusive go to. Those I run on 3s.

The esc is not in trainer mode, I have checked twice. I honestly have no idea what I need to do.

Have you tried a different battery? If it's a lipo one of the cells could be damaged. It could be the motor, esc, or receiver. I don't know if a damaged servo can cause that issue. Electronics issues are always the biggest pain. I would try attaching a different motor to the system and see if it runs slowly. If it does then it's probably not the motor. You could also hook the motor up to another system. If it runs slow it's probably the motor. You could try similar tests with the esc and receiver. Or, you can all Traxxas to see what they say. I found them to be very helpful. I called once about a bad stock servo in my Slash and they sent me a new one.
It's possible that esc is in Lipo mode which reduces the power to the motor when voltage drops to a certain level. If you run a NIMH battery and it's in Lipo mode that can cause a problem. This is a suggestion from a Traxxas article. I have included a link and not all the suggestions apply to your situation. https://traxxas.com/support/Model-feels-sluggish-poor-acceleration-Electric.
