Hello motor tuners,

I've got a question I've seen a tuner who claims that they can increase the output of the BL2S box stock motor and still have it pass inspection now I race at a small track I don't think anyone is inspecting cars here but is this true or just BS. I thought these were practically un hackable I assumed these motors are, but these are my first experience with brushless motors ever I'm used to brushed motors and from what I have read and seen in videos these are supposed to keep races semi close. I'd like to have any info on this if this is true because I know people are paying for this service but if this is just putting bearing oil in that's just not a long-term fix, is it? And we do have battery rules so no one as far as I know is running anything that isn't like a mudboss battery I am running trinity and R1Wurks.

Thanks for any info

I've not held or looked at the BL2S motors so unsure anything can be done to 'significantly' increase their RPMs, add to that most manufacturers include pretty basic motors in their RTR models and I'm more than a bit skeptical.

Me to but I have seen the supposed dyno pics and there are about 1200 rpm gains. Is that from good bearing oils?

Looked it up and the BL2S is rated at 3300 kV (revs per volt)

With a 2S battery, that makes a no-load RPM of 24,420... 1200 rpm is roughly a 5% increase... might be possible, but I'd want to see a video of the motor running on the dyno with a long shot showing both and the speed... but I'm an old curmudgeon, so there's that. :hehe:

Have you watched any of the mods done by @WutUp Clegg ??? They might give you an idea if what you might expect.
He is prob the most active poster on here who is modding motors. He might be ablr to shed some light on this subject if he is availible.
I'm using 'the force' to summon him now. 🤣

If the 'modder' won't say what they are doing to a motor, theres not a chance I'd pay for 'secret service'.

Maybe ceramic bearings get you a bit more speed at the cost of more frequent maintenance?
A replacement rotor? I don't know if such mods are even possible on a Traxxas motor.
1200 kv gain could be trickery too. A weak vs strong battery during 'testing' or other slight of hand fun.

If its just magic juice, buy your own and save the nonsense. 🤣

No I have not seen any of his videos I will check them out to be sure but I'm not sure if you can just replace the bearings or the rotor in the BL2S motor and have it pass inspection but I'm no expert either. But that's why I'm here asking about it.

I understand.
Maybe other ppl have tried to swap them too.
I still have a lot to learn about motors. I wish I had more info for you.

I would still stay away from 'secret mods builder' if they won't tell you what they are doing to the motor. 👍

Ya I am not made of money either to be spending a lot of money, but I did find an interesting you tube video where a gentleman said that any of the brushless motors no matter which ones they were if you put shims in the rotor to move it as close to the where the esc wires go in the faster it goes. But still, that does not explain how someone claims that they can open these BL2S motors up and they will pass inspection. I watched another video where someone opened up the BL2S up and he pretty much destroyed it the case is very hard to open up.
