I always like to keep an "emergency" bag with me when I'm running or tuning the truck. I like to have the tools I might need, spare parts, and extra starter battery, my fuel bottle, etc... etc...

What are some important things that I should have in my kit for the truck. It's a 2.5 T-Maxx. please let me know what some things are that I shouldn't leave home without, such as extra a-arms, maybe a spur gear, wrenches, and fragile but valuable parts like that. I'm going to the hobby shop later to make a list and leave it there so my girlfriend can do her Christmas shopping for me, and I won't get some stupid sweater that I would only wear around her so she would think I liked it. :hehe:

I haven't run a Maxx in a while, but there are a number of spares you should have no matter what truck. Extra A-arms. Tie rods and ends. Glow plugs. Batteries or at least a charger to recharge tx, rx or starter batts. Spur gear. And as far as wrenches, make sure you have one that fits most common bolts and screws. A Philips and blade screwdriver. Hex wrenches for all your collars and engine bolts. A wheel nut wrench. And a glow wrench. I think you'll find as you go along that your spare box will grow bigger and bigger. But that's better than having a day cut short due to a broken part.

I carry all important tools... which is most of the ones used for RC.

Temp gun
glow heater
extra glow heater
Small channel locks
Small needle nose/with wire cutter
small phillips/standard
wheel/gp wrench
combo screwdriver with the following drive bits: full size phillips/standard/2M,2.5M,3M,4M,5M, wheel nut driver
Threadlock stick

For parts, I carry my box full of all my spare screws which also has many other spares like tie rod ends, exhaust springs, exhaust coupler/seals, servo horns, axle pins, axle hex's, wheel nuts... lots of junk. It's one of those trinket box's that can be used for fishing tackle.

When I go out for a bash with the intention of being out all day, I take my LST specific box and charger as well as all the above. It has all sorts of spares for my aftershock.

Otherwise, just for a general bash, I take only what's in the first list. I have a nice wingtote bag that I can carry all my junk in.

I would also carry aluminum tape (or duct tape), tie straps, superglue/epoxy... maybe a pull start if the batteries die and you can't charge them, body clips and hardware along with a bunch of items listed above...I live in the desert so I bash at home (or in the fields (desert)) instead of driving out somewhere...

Thanks a lot for the help guys! Many of the items I had thought about in the past but when I go to the hobby shop there's always so much to choose from and I forget about my mental list, so now I'm making a physical list and you have all helped a lot. unccpathfinder: I have a decent amount of property, about 50 acres to play on, so I will be doing a lot of my bashing here at home as well, and I'm getting ready to begin work on a practice track. However I like to keep all of the stuff that I would take out on the road together in my box or bag, even when I'm at home. That way, I will realize it when I forget things and I can go inside and get them as opposed to waiting until I'm way out somewhere to realize that I forgot a necessity, and I don't have to worry about trying to pack it up in a hurry, I can just grab it and go. Thanks again!

I went out and bought a tool set from Duratrax. It's awesome! Was wrenching on my maxx to install new fuel line and some new shock oil. The hex drivers hold onto the nuts and screws like dragon claws! Plus, I always magnetize my drivers with a big magnet (just rub it in one direction and it'll hold screws).

cupooterluvr, did you get the 15 piece Ultimate RC Tool Set? If not, which one did you get? If you ordered it online, did you go with ebay or a site? I would love to know where you got the set, or if anyone else uses a tool set for RC's, I would love to know what you have and how you like it. I've been looking at them trying to find one that I like.

I bought it at the LHS for $20. I don't know if that was a good deal, but they work great! It comes with small and large phillips and flat drivers, and 3 different sizes of allen and nut drivers (total of 10). The grips on them are pretty cool. It also comes in a sweet looking cloth mat that could double as a pit towel.

Here's a link on Tower: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUC48&P=ML

Hope that helps!

PS they come in metric and standard sizes, so make sure you get the right one! Almost bought the wrong one until the hobby shop guy told me they come in two sizes.
