Hey guys.

I'm a total newbie so please be gentle with me.

I have managed to start my car up and what happened the other day was when i started it it was automatically on full throttle and the car was just going really fast. Lucky I put on some bricks but I had to pull the fuel line out rapid and then it stopped. It went really smokey and hot.

Please help guys it may need idle settings or maybe the carb needs adjusting ?

I can't find the right screw to turn theres so many .

PS. The transmitter is coming in a day or two but I want to start it up again normal.

Please help :)

The little screw with the spring around it behind the carb is the idle screw. The one in the brass ring above the fuel line is the high speed needle. The big one in the side of the carb is either the low speed adjustment or low speed seat adjustment. Post a photo of the other side of the carb as well.

You shouldn't really run an engine without proper servo linkage and a radio though. The idle adjustment won't do you any good if the throttle slide isn't being pushed in by the linkage/servo. All the idle screw does is stops the slide from going in to far and stalling the engine.

Appears the MTA-4 is just an associated monster gt. Looks very similar at least.

This is the carb settings from the manual for break-in:

Manual for the engine, I think... their website sucks:

Also, here's a thread with a lot of engine help:

olds97_lss

what do you want me to take a picture of ? As in what angle ?
Also I can't find the carb on here like picture with the hole ?
Is it something got to do with the Air Filter

Yeah, you would take the air filter off the engine to look down the carb neck to see where the slide stops when you manually push the slide into the carb. The idle screw adjusts how far the slide will go. You only do this to get it in the ball park. Then, put the filter/neck back on, get it running/up to operating temp and adjust the idle as needed.

I don't need a picture anymore. I found the carb/engine/manual, which tells me what I was looking for.

Most engines have a low speed needle in the slide itself where the throttle linkage connects. Yours however, only has the low speed needle seat adjustment.

thanksalot :)

whats the difference between high speed needle and low speed needle ?

what do I adjust

That’s a what’s underneath . What’s it looking like

Also does this need to go back on ?

Does it make a difference ? If so what does it do ?

Thanks a lot apprsxiatenf snd sorry for the numerous questions I’m a newbie
