I had one and would shoot myself before I ever bought another one. Everytime I ran it something would break. And thet hings that broke weren't the cheap things like spur gears, it would be the whole trans or drive shafts. If you don't have one yet STAY AWAY from it like the plague. If you do I feel sorry for you. I couldn't ever get it to even go through one tank.

Well.Mine run great.Far tougher then ANY t-maxx I ever had.Oh I feel bad for you running down a great truck just because you can't work on them.

My TQ is in the basement. Got tired of working on it and ordering parts! Bought it new in March. Haven't ran it very much. It may have a gallon of fuel through it. I won't buy anymore Duratrash. I figure it would take at least $300 worth of hop ups to get it to run with a T-Maxx or Savage out of the box.

If you don't have one, don't get one.
If you have one and you like it, let me know what you did.

i have a tq ... biggest problem is the tires being so big and the drive train being weak ... not a good combination ... i got t-maxx wheel adapters and am running proline maxx mashers on it .. took alot of strain off the drive train and allowed for better steering ..

i am also running a xtm 24.7 in it .. double the first gear spur ... that takes care of the chewing up spurs and clutchbells ...

also put supports between the shock towers or build a cage for it ..

here is my tq .. i have not broken anything major in quite some time now ...

or you can go to www.extremercparts.com ... he has alot of upgraded parts for the truck .. kinda costly ... but nice parts !!!

i will put my TQ up against a maxx or savage anyday ...

How much money do you think you have put in it before you were satisfied with it?? I have thought about making my TQ a winter project. Not sure yet. Parts are pretty high. I have seen extreme rc parts. If I'm not mistaken a set of axles was $50. I bent the stock ones hitting a bush in the yard.

Need to replace the motor. Has less power than the .18 in my kid's X-Cell.
Shocks are broke.

Do you think it is worth it to "beef" it up?

you have one good point. you have to work on them a lot....point taken.
it is what it is trash.give up and buy a savage.or a tmaxx whould be better.all though its a pos to but better then a quack.....oh i mean a Quake

the maxx wheel adapters and maxx sized wheels will take care of the bending of the axles ... the metal used is too soft for the size of the wheels ...

i dropped the xtm 24.7 in mine ... well worth the $$

and double up the 1st gear or you will eat up clutchbells ...

ya buy a maxx so you can spend a bundle on replacing all the plastic parts on it so it will not break on ya ...

Got the Savage. Haven't seen the T-maxx run. (Haven't found anyone to bash with yet.) Picked the Savage over the Maxx looking through the forums. Between the plastic parts and the tuning problems I've heard about with the 2.5 engine.... Both have about the same amount of aftermarket support.

Got the 24.7 in the X-term. That thing rocks man!! Amazes me everytime I run the thing. The TQ was the first RC car I bought. Saw everyone was putting the 24.7 in it and ran across the buggy. All the cars require a lot of maintenance, but I have to work on the X-term less than anything I have. Best thing I have bought, so far.

Probably dig it out the TQ later on.... maybe. I see you are one of 17 members on waterwingswheels. Any other forums for the TQ. That one is dead.

dunno what all the neg hype about the T.Q. is all about except ya dont have alot of aftermarket christmass orniments to hang on it like some of the trucks out there where some rich kid ended up with a 3,000 dollar monster r/c truck to let his kiddie friends google at but was infact worthless othrewise. I've had the T.Q. for over a year & its still running as good as always. I did drop in a XTM 24.7 but after 6 months of replacing 1-way bearings I tossed it over the fence with the junk porta-poties next door, guess its still there. As with any r/c off road truck do ya really expect to "buy-bash-any truck without something happining??? I've bent shock towers, broken dog bones, head fins, servos, rims, you name it, I call it part of the game. The T.Q. with the exception of after market crap runs with the best of-em.
Any truck bought stands improvment here & there, acording to your driving habits. If ya wanna impress nose-picken-Poly next door go get a Savage, T-Max, drop 500.00 more into google things, drive up & down the street (no more than 20mph for fear of getting something dirty!!) put a sock in your pocket (for visual effects) & have fun.
If ya think about it ya never see to many down & dirty balls out r/c trucks on these fourms cause those who know better kinda ignore the rest of ya "Mr Rogers" crowd. Ya wanna Quake---go for it, keep the .21 engine in it till your ready to fly then go a Wasp-26, the new .28 . With a little research you'll also find stuff from other trucks that work on yours. Forget that sissy looking paint job Joe-blow invested 50.00 or more in & can't sell it for over 10.00 including body-- keep your nitro content high, your temps low, soft butt-ugly tires, chains, just enough ground clearence to scratch the hell outa the roof of that Savage when ya go over it, & raise hell!!.
There's a web site that has roll cages for the Quake, twin engine set-ups (if ya like tuning all the time) The cages support 8 shocks. Enough said, now watch the pretty boy's give me a poop-load of bad feedback--lol,lol.

That post doesn't really deserve a reply. But here goes anyway. Not a pretty boy rich kid out to impress anyone. Middle-aged old dude that works hard for what I get. Enjoy my toys. My wife even has a good time with them. I like tinkering with them. But I don't want to be working on them all the time! That is all I have done with the TQ. Something is broke everytime I drag it out. Don't know... Something about a TQ seeing daylight, maybe????

I've been able to run my Savage without many problems. I'll admit it could be changed in some ways. But there is more than one company that makes hop-up parts for it.

No need to get your panties in a knot over a truck that Duratrash didn't think enough of to keep making. :deadhorse
The pretty boys are still buying the T-maxxs and the Savages. And from the looks of it they will keep on buying them.

12lb 1/8 scale truck + no customer support + no aftermarket support + wamby pamby Torq .21 = discontinued TQ :thumbdown

I guess I must be just lucky or the hills, trees, mud puddles, walls, concrete & rocks around here are softer then in your town. I'm in the desert with sand dunes, old cars, gravel, did I mention sand dunes? This Quake has been over-em in them, stuck, buried, upside down still moving, in washes with debree, (I did sink it once in about 4" of mud water & blew the reciever) & I just came home from being over in the dunes with the full size buggies with a 1/4 tank of fuel cause it got dark, (my next project is duct-tape & a flashlight) The axels, joints, drive train, shock springs, a-arms, are a nightmare (I do have a motor saver 3-phase air filter & I carry 5 extra outer foams & 3 inner foams in a baggie with my stash) & a 5-gal air tank. Tomorrow I'll hose it off, blow it out, do a tear down, oil it up & go back out in a couple days if I get home from work early enough. No I dont work for DuraTrax, I just got bored a year ago & bought it from Tower. I have no problem running the piss outa-it & I still do. Seems to luv it I guess. I did let it sit for a month & like most old people (including me) got stiff for about 2 tanks of fuel, then it was fine. Down the road I have 2 friends who both have a Savage. There'll run em around the semi hard roads but no way are gonna go with me out in the dunes cause they dont have reverse & are to lazy to go after them when they bog in the sand. To each his own my friend. I believe the orig. post was how the T.Q. stands up in general. I have no need to lie or could care less what people think. My T.Q. is alive & well & I recomend it to the dude who asked in the begining of the post. Besides with all the people as yourself who are unfortunately un-happy with your T.Q that makes it a great deal for him. Maybe you can hook up with him & give it to him, least ways it wouldn't be sitting around making your Savage look bad

for a tq forum ... go to www.extremercparts.com and go to the message board ... tons of info there ...

the reason there is only 1 company that makes aftermarket parts for the tq is that there isn't that much that really needs attention to it ... unlike the plastic trucks (t-maxx and savage) they make every part for it to replace the plastic on them for when it breaks ...

someone said it well a few posts back that every truck out there needs something upgraded or reengineered ... no truck is perfect .. but everyone that has a truck or car thinks that is the best there is ... i like my tq .. i have never ran a maxx or savage .. but have smoked a few in the past ... with the little updates needed to the tq it is a strong and fast truck ... that is all i am saying ... i am not trying to bash your truck or anyones out there .. enjoy the truck you have and enjoy the competition of the maxx's and savages ... if everyone drove the same thing there wouldn't be much to say here ....

just don't be mad when my tq leaves ya in the dust !!! :boxing: :violin: :winnar:
