my t-maxx has an foc installed and one of the first things i noticed when i got it is that when you pull the trigger on the remote it activates the brakes and when you push the trigger it activates the throttle. this is backwards of the other r/c's i have driven i was wondering if you can change it back to normal or if it's because of the foc.

Sure. You just need to activate the servo reversing on the throttle channel. Depending on the transmitter you're using, there should be a channel reverse function. Either it's a switch on the radio, or it's in the programming parameters if you're using a computer radio. Just reverse channel 2 (throttle) and it should work just fine.

just switch the sevro revers switch on the transmiter use a small flathead screw driver if u can flip it
