Somehow I think this is my fault. :)

Yesterday one of the guys I work with asked me for one of my R/C mags I keep in my desk. He returns it a while later and then another co-worker asks me what kind of off-road kits they could buy for around $200 bucks. I tell him I'll look around.

This is how it started, now a little background.
One of the guys in this group of nuts seen me running my Savage SS near work while on lunch. He asked me a few questions about it later that day.

Yesterday, some of the guys started talking about getting sailboats to race. The conversation turns into land vehicles and this is the point that I get asked for my mag. It happened to be an issue of RC Driver that had a Savage on the front and I mention I own one. The conversation among this group evolves into 4wd vehicles and then into nitro. I then get asked which 4wd nitro kit they should buy and I reccomend the Savage 25RTR. They are interested. I call my LHS and two are in stock with all the goods to get up and running and my LHS (Fields Hobby in Cheektowaga NY. Thanks Adam!) even agrees to sell the kits for $399 a pop.

Long story short. Four friends at work are all buying Savage RTRs. Two of them actually picked theirs up the same day they started takling about them. One has one on order. Another is looking on ebay. A fifth guy in this mess has a T-Maxx that he was going to buy a Sirio 3.0 for to bash with our Savages!!

These guys went crazy for nitro R/C in a few short hours and some of it I guess is my fault. :D The best part is now I have 5 friends to bash with on lunch breaks!! :D

I'm going to invite all five of them here so they can accelerate their learning curves.

/end of my story. thanks for reading!

I did actually. So far one is interested and might make it. I helped him tune his engine today and he ended up driving it into the creek!!! Today is his second day owning it. :)

Sounds like an auspicious start to a new bash crew. Keep it up...

RCNT rocks

It all started back up for me about 2 years ago. There was a guy at work that had brough in his old gold tub RC10 and wanted to know if any of us could help him get back up and running. We tore her apart on the workbench relubed everything checked for missng screws, ran down to the LHS by work and got him a new esc and motor and he was back up and running that day. The next day i brought in one of my old electrics. For the next month all we chatted about was RC until EVRYONE of us either got their old ones up and running or bought new ones. After telling Team17 about it he dug out HIS old RC10 and the addiction was reborn.

Since then Team17 and I were the only ones that took the plunge into Nitro and have never looked back. Between the two of us we now have 8 nitro rides and 5 electrics. The next plunge with be a nitro heli. Muahahahaha

Sounds like they have all seen the light.

Did you happen to tell them what a money siphon this hobby is?
