I've been reading and looking at shock info for a little while now.

This is for my Bashing Maxx. w/ sirio .18
Mud,Snow,Dirt, Etc.

I have a moto-x Track I bash on in my back field. and a rock qurie etc. Lotsa mud, Big jumps etc..

anyways.. I want the best I can get. I've been eyeballing some
INTEGY PIGGY BACKS. $127 http://integy.automated-shops.com/c...p_catid=29&[email protected]

but I just seen these in the classifieds
TRAXXAS BIG BORES $50
https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10378

What I want to know is HOW MUCH of a noticable diff is there in Quality, integrity etc..

I dont have A problem droping the $120 for shocks. if they are deff. better for my application. Will they hold upto bashing. or should I buy 2 cheaper sets because I'm bashing and take the chance of bending a shock etc.

Thanks In advance

can I put some truck springs on a on-road car
thanks,
pokey

Hey guys,

Well, Opinoins are like assholes. The integy piggbacks are probably the best in terms of actual shock performance but look @ the shock pins they come with.....probably bend-o-matic. The Integy's probably aren't the most durable though. Like myself and many here your a basher and need the best combination of performance and durability.

You can add the Titanium Nitride pins that the Big Bores have to many shocks but they cost $40 for a set of eight and they can still bend. Assuming you don't go into a wall full speed I've been bahsing the hell out of my Big Bores with no bent shock pins.

I've decided on the SuperXRacer shocks from UE like I reco'd in the For sale forum to you. The shock pins on those should be as durable or more durable then most any shock pins on the market. They are Ti NItride coated hardened steel but they have a slightly larger diameter then other pins on the market. They also have a nice body, they are threaded and they have a built in "boot" setup to keep excess crap from getting in and around your shocks (you'll need shock socks to keep the springs totally clean too).

BTW.....The Big bores are probably sold. I think you'd be happy with Big BOres (again assuming you don't run into a wall full speed but this is a given in this hobby). You have money to spend apparetnly and want to know what the best is. I offered up my opinion from experience.

Peace

I have a set of the big bores on my E-Maxx. I paid $65 for the set and it was money well spent. I've beaten the snot out of them and they come through just fine. With an all aluminum body and end caps and the nitride coating they are well worth the money.

After talking with

humboldtblazer I desided on some of these. if not some better ones..

Check out 4 sets of these @ $30 a set wich gets you 8 1/8 shocks for $120, then I suggest 55 in back and 40-45 wt oil in the front.

as i said I do some Hard core bashing and thats about it. So I want something that is gona take it. and handle the Jumps.

Hey man,

The link doesn't work so it's hard to know what your talking about. Allot of people like to run 1/8th size shocks and allot of people don't I was reco'n for standard size shocks and with the road racking that I'm going to be doing I wouldn't want larger.

Humbolt seems to know his chit but I wouldn't be suprised if those shocks he/you are reffering to aren't as beffy as the UE from OFNA.

Peace

I edited the link try now.

30%nitroboy- actually, those shocks are pretty beffy, but not as good as the UE supershocks. i am runnign the OFNA 9.5 shocks, which are almost exactly the same, except i think the shock pins are different. i picked mine up for $60 from a guy i knew and i love them

Hey guys,

Well, Those shocks appear to be nice but for $30 a pair...get the phuck outta here. They aren't threaded which is totally unacceptable IMO for that price. The Shocks spacers work fine but their a pain in the ass in the field when fine tunning compared to threads. Your looking @ $121 or so+ shipping. Those seem to have some nice things like the boot covers but those aren't much of an upgrade from the Traxxas Big Bores that you can usually get @ LHS's and online for around $75.00. For $22.00 or so more you can get a full set of the UE Bad boy threaded shocks that will probably put those to shame in many respects.

Another note on UE in general. UE makes some of if not the best T-maxx Hop ups. My biggest problem with UE like many is their rediculous prices.....their pretty arrogant if ya ask me. I'm not rich but I'm far from poor. As a matter of principal I wouldn't buy from a company that charges as much as UE. I am more then willing to take advantage of some of UE's current sale prices though..hehe.

I just orderd the Wide Maxx suspension kitt and a full set of 8 of the RacerX shocks. If my wifey finds out I'm dead but she's just as dic whipped as I am pus*ywhipped..hehe.

EDIT - Bryan, those 9.5's from OFNA are sweet from what I've seen from Bashing with buddies.

Peace

nice buy, u will liek the suspension. that is good that u caught it on sale.

I run a set of Mugen 1/8 Buggy shocks on my Savage. That is a sum total of four shocks for a ride that usually requires eight shocks. They are beefy and handle my heavier than stock Savage over some of the roughest stuff I can run. Ask around, you'll find that I am not gentle with my rides and as my name implies...I like to fly my RC trucks.

On my T-Maxx I have an eight-pack of AE shocks. They have been through just about everything I can think of. Check my gallery for some shots of the T in action. I bought the AE shocks almost two years ago, and aside from routine rebuilds (like once in a year's time) they have not been a problem for me. When they do die, I intend to replace them with a set of Mugen shocks like I run on my Savage.

Buy what you can afford, and set your ride up for what you intend to do...Bashing is great as long as you set yourself up for success...shocks are a great place to start.

well i bought a set of the integty piggy back shocks and i do alot of big air jumps and i like them alot i have 45 weight oil in them

Skymaxx - Well said bro, I personally don't care for 1/8th size shocks on my Maxx's but some love them for jumping and bashing. Those Mugen shocks sound nice indeed as I know that like myself and many here that you take your Trucks to the limits and back.

Bryan - I'll update everyone on the performance of the UE suspension and SHocks....I'm looking forward to it but my Maxx is still in total pieces now.

Peace

I use integy piggy backs on my tmaxx. It is all aluminum and titanium with jumbo kong tires and a xtm 24.7 motor. I jump the crap out of it and the only thing that has ever happened is a popped a 5 cent seal and leaked shock fluid after a 15 foot drop and flip! These integy are hard core!

I have used just about every shock that will fit on a Maxx.
Stock
BBs
AE
Losi
integy piggies
GS 1/8th
UE 1/8th

I have found that the BBs,AE,Losi, and integy piggies to preform well and have just about the same driving characteristics.

Each shock differs in the rebuild and the maintenance routines. People will have their preference on the setup they feel most comfortable with. I like the Integy due to the fact that they go 3-4 times longer between rebuilds / refills.

As far as my driving style goes I prefer to use 1/8th scale shocks. Due to the value factor I choose the GS. They are a great shock for a great price. I have used them on a stock Maxx as well as my CyberMaxx and they fit my style well.

FastyEddy - Thanks for the experienced info. I'll let you guys know what I think of the UE badboys after I've run them for a substantial period of time to form some kind of real opinion. I hope the dude that I sold my Big Bores too knows what a deal he got..lol. IF the Shocks from UE aren't kickass then you can bet that I'll be whinning to UE..lol.

Peace
