Rushed it and got a solid C- results. Back to the drawing board. Fortunately this paint comes off relatively easy with isopropyl

whew! last update January 4th 2025. Eleven months is probably a long enough break, time to restart the project!

scuffed up the failed attempt at a 3 part candy red. lesson learned, don't attempt a by-hand mix when the model is in pieces. other than dust and droplets, none of the panels matched!

Ordered Tamiya TS-50 Blue mica and more primer. single color, no real issues with the surfaces after sanding, so hopefully should be good enough to keep moving forward. This step that first permanently mounts a painted part was a big one, just a ton of pieces to paint.

That red color from the spoon samples (love that by the way, it's a good use of plastic spoons) looks like the color of the semi my grandpa used to drive! I kinda want to get one of these, but I don't currently have an RC because my 1/18 Ruckus finally kicked the bucket. I'm surprised it lasted 8 years, and I only had to replace the diffs twice. I'm getting a 1/10 Outcast.

Sanded! Hoping the TS-50 Blue is opaque enough so any red showing thru doesn't matter. Out of primer and don't really feel like spraying and sanding again.

Clearcoat and a couple days to dry. A few areas could look better, but the finish is good enough, I've made peace with it. The important part is to restart the model, I could spend the next month on the finish of each panel. Black on the inside of the fenders. Once this dries, I can actually start assembling again!

Progress! Finally starting Bag E. So far a couple fender pieces and adding lenses and LEDs to brake lights.
