Whaddup guys,
Well I've been hashing it out over the months and I think I've decided to build another bad boy Maxx from all the parts I have from my first one. I drive my buddies Savages all the time and they're plenty of fun and very strong stock compared to a stock Maxx but here's my biggest problem with the savage.
THE TURNING RADIUS SUCKS, One of my buddies has an expensive JR Digital MG servo in his Savage and it still doesn't turn nearly as well as my maxx when I had the stock servo. Now that I have a HS-5645 MG I'm really out performing the Savages off road in the tight and not so tight turns....it's relatively to out drive a high end Savage off and on road now.
I in no way intend to Dis the mighty Savage or Savage owners...
A Stock Savage vs. a Stock T-maxx, THe Savage is much, much stronger stock. It's not just the inherint design but the fact that HPI is cool enugh to put beefier parts on their RTR cars. Traxxas knows that chit is weak on their truck stock and I'm sure they wanna cash in on selling replacement parts. So STOCK VS. STOCK (assuming your savage doesn't have all the other issues of course) I'd give the Savage the prize overall. THe Stock Savage is the jump kind ladies and gents BUT, the biggest probelem IMHO with the Savage is again the Turning radius (more lack their of) and their's not much you can do to address that as it's the design itself.
Once you beef up a T-maxx with RPM A-ARms and other superior parts it runs circles (literally) around the Savage (assuming both people are good drivers for a fair compaison and you have a big bore conversion or a good .18 to keep up)
THe Beauty of the T-maxx is it's great turning and the overall design assuming that you beef it up with superior parts to Make it as strong or stronger then a Savage. I saw the New Team Associated monster truck and it looks just like a T-maxx on Steroids. The Maxx isn't just the most copied design IMHO because of it's popularity but it's funtionality overall.
Take that for what it's worth....
Peace
