T-Maxx Screw Kits

Well i'm tired of stripping my stock crap screws. I want some nice stainless Hex screws. I was thinking of going the McMaster.com way and ordering some, but 100 peices of each screw is way to much for me (and it would cost a bit to). So I'm looking into buying a set for my maxx. I've seen several nice ones on ebay for about $20+ but i really like the UFSS kit. Can i get some feedback on this kit? I seen sveral posts saying that it was a nice kit, but is there any more feedback? Thanks in Advance.

PS: are there any other good Screw Kits for the maxx?

sorry i dont know about that kit

but keep looking on ebay ....there is a seller who lists new hardcore tmaxx parts for real cheap bin's a few weeks back he had the titanium screw kit in silver brand new for 60$ bin and all 8 ext a arms in blue bin for 98$ ,,,,,his id is sees36 or something like that i can't remember it

I've heard bad stuff about the Ti screw kits. Problems with them breaking at the head, and then since they're titanium the screws are really hard to drill out of the holes. But thanks for the input.

yes that is somewhat a problem ....but it is mostly on the bulkhead screws that it happens cazz they bend so bad and it waekens them

have you tried the aluminum skrew kits ....i was thinking of getting a set off ebay but i havent heard if they r good or not

Titanium screws in areas of high shear stress is a bad idea. You will shear the head off before you bend the screw. So using them to hold bulkheads to chassis plates is a bad idea.

Racer's Edge has a decent set of stainless steel screws for a reasonable price, but I think McMaster site you mentioned will beat the price. One thing to recognize with stainless is that it is a soft metal. Do not let the steel part fool you. The alloy they use to make it "stainless" actually softens the metal.

Black oxide steel screw sets are pretty hardcore. They are not as pretty and tend to rust up quick if not properly cared for, but they are hard as heck to strip. I've gone through more allen wrenches than screws trying to remove the black oxide steel screws from my Maxx.

In the end it is up to you. How much is too much to spend? I'll try and post a couple of sets tonight when I get a chance.

Oh...steer clear of aluminum screw sets. They are nice and lightweight...and that is about all of the advantage they have. They are not strong by any sense of the word, and you will bend, shatter, and shear more aluminum screws than you have time to spend changing them.

Thanks for the input guys. msly i actually looked at those posts before i made this one (search :cheeky: ) But just wanted to see the input that others have. The RC raven set looks nice (the blue zinc plated 250 peice set) and i was really interested in that. can anyone give any info on this? i know GA made a 400+ peice set that ran for over $100 (the blue zinc type) but $100 for a screw kit is a little outta my league. I've heard somwhere that Blue Zinc plated screws are some of the best to get. (Made out of 12.9 and 10.9 grade screws). Is there really a big difference??? If the blue zinc set is really good, i might get that for the "bling" factor as well.... (i like blue...) thanks again.

Screw Sets

I bought a FullForce RC screw set.
Not bad at the price and I sourced it from a UK e-tailer at a reasoable price.
Needless to say, the quality isn';t that great, one or two of the hexes stripped, so I had to Dremel a slot in them to remove them with a flat screwdriver.

I have the UFSS kit of 250 pieces and so far I have been real happy with it. I bought it for around 20 bucks shipped so that was a great deal for me. The one thing I dont like is that the hex head seems to be a little lose when you insert the allen wrench. I have stripped a couple but that was my fault for putting to much toqure on it.

I'm going to have to agree with T-Maxx racer on this one... The UFSS screw kit I got had issues... Some of the the hex heads are very sloppy & strip easily. (Yes, I used the right drivers) I actually tried both metric & standard.
After reading that everyone was happy with the UFSS kits, I thought maybe I just got a lemon..
Back to McMaster for the Black Oxides for me....
