i think my maxx isnt always down shifting,sometime it does but other times it doesn't seem to. has anyone else ever had this problem? could my transmission already be bad on a 3 week old truck? does anyone have any idea as to what i should check or try to fix????
 
i had a problem like that, it would get stuck in second and id let off the gas and hit and hit the gas again and it would rev up then grab but i just took the tranny apart and greased it with my silicone shock oil and it works great, not sure if the same problem u got but try greassin it
 
These transmissions are NOT to be lubed. Make sure there's no debris in the tranny, but do not lube it. Any kind of "wet" lube will inherently attract fine dirt particles, and in time, will wear everything inside the tranny out prematurely. Sorry for not having a direct answer to your question. Someone will.
 
help me,noone seems to have an answer on this topic

my 1mth old maxx is sticking in second gear and its gettin worse by the day....but the problem is very inconsistent. 2 outta 5 times when it goes to 2nd gear it wont bring it self back to first unless i rev it up and quickly hit the breaks a few times......this problem is very annoying for the type of driving i do.....someone out there please help me!!!! I've spoke to traxxas and they dont even really have an answer besides sending the tranny to them and a 2week waiting period without running my truck does not sound like a solution to me,i have been advised by traxxas never to use lube inside the tranny....so thanx for that advise but i wont be lubing it!

Like metalhead said check for debris in the trans. I don't know your mechanical aptitude but I'd pull the trans apart, this should help http://www.traxxas.com/PDF-Library/080812_KC1154_4995XINST.pdf its the reverse install instructions so this will help you get the trans out and case apart.(of course disregard all the reverse parts/install) You'll see how the gears are held on the shaft so pay attention to orientation and keep track of the little washers they tend to stick to the gears and fall off when you're not paying attention. Pull it all apart and inspect everything.
 
ok thanx.....1/2nd cluster is no big deal but i like my slipper tight the way it is,is it really necessary to loosen it up?
 
mine won't shift a lot of the time either... I went to adjust the shift point but I can't.... Even when I roll the truck around a bunch, I can't get to the screw. If I look in the hole, the point where the screw is has shifted and I can't get to it. Nothing is slipping but something has shifted in there...

i would just get a new one off ebay or somthing...

i had the same problem..........except myne was not 3 weeks old
myne would not engage ethier:(:(:(:(
