I went to my local track early this afternoon for some shakedown track time for the ACNC head I got for my t-maxx and it started out good, but the steering for the last time or 2 I have drove the truck has started to act weird. It will steer ok, but it is slow to return to center, and today after 2 tanks at the track, it stopped steering all together. I thought that maybe the batteries could be dead for the receiver, so I changed them, and the truck will steer left, but won't return all the way to center and won't even attempt to steer right. So, I think I may have stripped a gear out in the steering servo, but no sweat, I was going to upgrade that soon anyway b/c everything on the maxx is stock except for the new head, so I have already went to the LHS and got another servo, it's a hitec 645 (I think thats the number but not sure, I have heard it talked about on here). Anyway, is there anything else that I should check or service while I am replacing that? Also, I figured for cheap insurance with the new servo, I got a new servo saver as well. Any ideas for other things to check or look for would be great.
Thanks,
Jared Williamson

Sounds like your batteries are dead... If you are not already using a rechargable pack, get one. As for the new servo, good choice. I am using the same one and it works great! What kind of servo saver are you using?

I don't know a model number and I didn't even ask for it, the guy at the hobby store said this is what I need and threw it on the counter, but I am pretty sure it is made by kimbrough. Does anybody know how much a battery pack for that would go for? also, will it fit in the stock battery box or will I have to buy an aftermarket one of those also?

Hey Jared....HAHA...you're HOOKED.....a freaking crack fiend like the rest of us....kimbrough is good stuff but if your really going all out on a T-maxx...I'll go monday night and bring mine to show you what is necessary to bomb proof it....the saver that's awsome and it really keeps you from not finding center is the pro-line steering kit.....it replaces the steering bellcrank linkage w/ a built in servo saver....cost about 30 bucks new.....there's all kinds of crap you can get for it to make it bad ass but before you go down thaat road you really have to ask yourself this.....speed costs money, How fast can you afford to go?????

I see you are moonlighting like me plaid. yeah I am hooked, I dropped my g/f off early on a saturday night so I could come home and work on my maxx, it's taken apart all over my kitchen table right now :hammer: . I will be there on monday night, and today with the factory tires and the track being really dry, I couldn't hardly get on it at all, the thing was going all over the place anyway. That set of tires you let me try out, do you want to sell them? the truck was a different animal to drive with them, if not just let me know what kind they were. What time does everything kick off on monday nights?

I need those for my truggy...I just got some aluminum from one of the forum guys to make a part...it was supposed to get cut today but I had to leave it for someone else to finish...had to leave...anyway I need em.....the are RPM talon rims...white.....bowtie tires.....and trinity 2 stage foams.....trim the edge at 45drg before you put em inside the tires.....practice is 5 til 10

sounds good, I'm going to have to pick up a set of those...as you can see I am a serious junkie now, it's 2:30 in the morning on saturday night and I have been tinkering with my maxx and surfing this website for the last 5 hours, and I'm still wide awake...I think I'm going to break something on it so I can try and fix it again

Battery packs are about $50, but well worth the money if you start adding up how many alkalines you will eat up in that amount of time... heres a link:

That is the poop right there... I have the one below it, but i think I'm gonna get one with the LEDs so i know when its charged. It is a good investment. Yeah man, the Proline steering setup is kick ass, i have one comin' my way. Thought i would try something different... Yeah, those bowties are good tires for racing. The stock tires are pretty much just for loose dirt or gravel, maybe sand... let us know if there is anything else we can do for ya...

was putting new servo on and saw that the wheels won't even go right if you try and move them with no servo attached! I thought this can't be right, and took the skid plate off to get a better look at all the steering linkage and a mangled and dead lizard(!) was stuck all up in the linkage!!! I've seen snakes and what not in real cars, but this one surprised me. None the less, now I have a better servo with the old one as a spare, it still works fine minus the lizard...

DAMMIT!!!!! I just saw a broken lower a-arm and I don't have a spare...

A lizard???? that's funny.....I think there's a 100 dollar reward for hitting one of the rats living in the lane dividers.....

thats so funny you say that, because I was standing out there yesterday and I could have sworn that I saw one run into one of those black pipes! What started with the steering not working because of a lizard stuck in there ended up with me OD'ing at the hobby store, now I have a hitec servo, new servo saver, titanium shock shafts, heavier oil, and new rpm arms on the front, and I still want to go back and get more stuff, I wonder if AA has an r/c program...

I think they'll be opening one near us soon.....I know everyone I have gotten into the hobby has done the same thing....I had like 10 of my neighbors going for a while but once I started to go to the track I don't really run in the field anymore so they sort of quit too......I'll still go and race the kids w/ the go-cart when I see em.....they don't even have a chance..........
