i went out and bought i new spur gear for my max i install it and when i spin it it looks bent its a plastic 72 tooth traxxas one any info thanks:angry:

Thats totally normal, they all do that. Once the spur begins to spin quickly, it will straighten out on its own due to centrifugal force.

thank u so much lol i did not want to mess it up i was thinkinking that, and what is the best way to mesh the gears I've seen the paper trick is that a good way or is there a better way thanks

Paper trick is about the best for beginners or you can just do it by ear. Spin it and when you don't here that horrible gringing anymore your good. The spur gear is totally normal.

ok thanks I've had the 2.5r and the 3.3 but after i put them together i sold them lol so i never knew if i did it right thanks alot what paper shoild i use

all right ill get some i have one more question the classics t maxx witch i have will the newer a arms bolt on i know the shock towers do cause i went to my hobby store to replace the body mounts and they have not made them for 4 years he said lo so i up dated that to the newer square ones.

If you don't have any copy paper just use a regular piece of paper it will get you close enough. You can do it by ear just listen for that aweful grinding sound to disappear and soon as its gone your set. My t maxx was a pain to line the spur up but once you get the hang of it it's really easy. YouTube some videos and that will show you some different methods and you just have to use the one that's easiest for you.

I just push the motor up to the spur gear and back it off just a hair. I then tighten the motor mount screws down just enough so that the motor wont move. Then I hold the clutch bell with my hex driver and move the spur gear on the clutch bell. If you can't hear a very slight "clicking" between the CB and spur gear, you are probably too tight, and if you can see too much play between the 2, probably too loose. Once you have it where you think it is good, put some loctite on the motor mount screws and tighten them down now, then test it with the strip of paper to see if you get those nice unifrom teeth marks in the paper. Remember, when you pull the paper out with your needle nose, if there are no marks on the paper, too loose and if the paper rips when trying to remove it, too tight. it can be a pretty finicky process until you get the hang of it.
