So I’ve got an Axial CJ7 on the way and I’m trying to figure out a good battery setup. I’ve been really happy with the Traxxas battery in my TRX4 and would like to stay with just one battery across the board. But I know that Axial uses a different plug and I’ve heard mixed things about adapters.
Would it be better to stay with a Spectrum battery and if so will it charge on the Traxxas EZ peak? Should I try to solder on a Traxxas connector to use their batteries? Or will an adapter be perfectly safe?
Many thanks

Spektrum and Traxxas batteries are overpriced, and they are junk. I'd get away from both of them, and I doubt many (if any) will endorse either of those battery brands on this forum. If you're bound and determined to use one of them, then you might as well stick with Traxxas since you already have them.

Bite the bullet now and get away from the overpriced garbage Traxxas and Spektrum sells before you get too deep into it. Much better batteries out there for way less money. And a lot better chargers.

An adapter would be fine in a crawler (low currents), but I too will tell you that you'd be better off switching to a standard connector and buying CNHL or some other brand at < half price.

I use a adapter and some Zee batteries from Amazon but also looking at getting batteries from HobbyKing.

If you get LiPos from Hobby King, You're gonna want either Zippy Compact or regular Turnigy. Turnigy Nano is slightly better than regular Turnigy, but not worth the extra money.
