Sup guys and gals,

I was reading some threads here a while back about running a Sirio piston and sleeve in th Trx 2.5 but I can't seem to find them. I wanna replace my tunning nightmare 2.5 with a Sirio .18 but have decided to wait. Since I'm about half a gallon away from doing a new piston and sleeve I figured I do this if it's worth it.

Does the Sirio piston and sleeve make a noticable/substantial gain of any kind???

Where's the cheapest place to get it???

Is the break in procedure the same??

TIA
PEACE

Me personally, I'd just get the Sirio .18. The Piston and sleeve will set you back about $80, the whole sirio engine is about $190. For $110 more, you get the con rod, crankshaft, carburetor and the ability to run a turbo plug, which IMO is money well spent.

I dropped in the Sirio piston and sleeve for the TRX 2.5

I did notice a big change in the performance.. Lot more snort to the low end and a little more gain in the top end..

my suggestion, if you plan to replace the piston and sleeve, then replace it with the sirio piston and sleeve..

I had my LHS order it for me...

Go here to TowerHobbies.

Trinity Sirio piston and sleeve for Tmax 2.5

It's only 66 bucks.

Otherwise Horizon hobby has it for 59.99
just search for this part number: TRIT15041322

i heard some good things about rebuilding the 2.5 with the sirio kit. it's supposed to give almost as much performance with only a fraction of the cost

SUp guys,

Thanks for the input.....for $88 I'll just get the entire motor for $100 more but $66 might be do-able considering that I just bought an expensive cooling head for my tunning nightmare 2.5. I've heard allot of good things here about the Sirio motors (Italian made) but I've heard allot of indifferent things at ALL of my LHS's.

Peace

all you need is a screwdriver and a temp gun

I have both bro...the Trx 2.5 is by far one of the biggest pain in the ass nitro engines I've ever owned and the stock cooling head is utter crap.

Peace

I must have gotten the only good one that traxxas made from the sound of this forum. I had some trouble with the tune when I first purchase it. After I figured how to dial it in I had very little problems after that. Sold it to a freind of mine last month with the sirio 3.0 and he hasn't had a complaint. Like I said I probably got the only good one.

my 2.5 stalls every time...
doesn't matter how cold or hot it is...

I even bought a new cooling head and it's a little better now...

maybe I'll buy something like this "SIRIO" Piston & Sleeve to give it a try...

tks guys

ow...

My truck is just month and half old.

Take your truck to the LHS and have them do a wet and dry compression test on your cold and hot engine..

tks for this tip...
I'll try it.

if they are unsure about the wet and dry test.. tell them this..

*Cold engine. do the compression test.. Record the nembers This is cold dry test

put in some After run oil in the cylinder.. do the compression testcold wet test

Start your truck and bring it up to operating temp or till it wont run anymore. Do the compression test. warm dry test

with all these values the hobby shop owner should be able to tell if you need to replace the piston and sleeve.. If youi ahve to then I would recommend getting the Sirio Piston and sleeve.

**as for your stalliing,, could be fuel, or air leakk..

I have major overheating problems this weekend, so I'm sure I have an air leak somewhere.
