Should I stay or move on?

Okay this is the question that I have been asking myself. I bought a new
T-maxx 3.3 just over a week ago, I have wanted a Nitro Truck for a while now and I was told that the T-maxx is a great truck for bashing so that is why I bought the truck. It has been just over week and I have already had to replace all of the A arms because the stock ones are weak. I went to the hobby shop and bought the RPM's, while I was there I asked the guy if there was anything else that I might need to replace and he said that the A arms where the weakest thing and I should be good. I get home and get everything put back together took it for a drive around my yard and I hit a stump and broke the front bulkheads, trip 3 to the hobby shop ( 1st trip was when I bought the truck.) so I bought aluminum bulkheads along with the RPM front shock tower before I left I asked if I should go ahead and replace anything else, and again I was told that I should be good, and I was for about 30 minutes until I went sideways off of a double and my rear bulkheads busted as well as my RPM skid plate, I went to the hobby shop bought the replacement parts aluminum bulkheads, see the pattern here I get home and then the steering linkage broke last night. So the question is should I keep pouring money into this money pit that is known as the t-maxx or should I cut my losses and look for a better truck? Which brings me to my next question of what I should buy? I am looking for a truck that is fast and durable I have about $600.00 for another truck but that must include all upgrades. I know that this was a little long winded, but any advice would greatly be appreciated

I've looked at the savage but I have thought about maybe racing in the future. I have been thinking about the Revo but not sure on how durable they they are.

i have a 5309 revo and have had minimal issues other than driver related. i only bash but the truck is very dependable and durable.

My Revo has taking a pretty big beating at the track and it's held up wonderfully. Only thing I have done to date is broke an A-Arm (after I screwed up and cartwheeled it 30 feet down the track) and stripped out a rear shock bolt hole (another cartwheel).

So I've been pretty impressed with the Revo thus far. I haven't done a whole lot of bashing...but with the beating I have given it....it barely squeals...

Here is the simple truth: You are going to break your rig. Especially when you hit a tree stump!

If you want a better MT and want to race it too look at the Losi Aftershock. It is as close to race ready as you can get in a RTR. Just add a sway bar kit and race.

The T-Maxx has always been a brittle pos out of the box. Cut your losses short, sell it.
Buy a Savage XSS, build it yourself and enjoy bashing a truck that can take a fence post or tree stump head on without breaking a thing. Maybe a bumper mount might break but they won't stop you from bashing. i have watched several T-Maxx trucks break just from jumping 3 feet in the air. I have seen more than one T-Maxx go home in two seperate pieces from a few laps on my track.
You can put a stock Savage 15 feet in the air and not break a damn thing.

I agree that the Savvy is a beast for bashing, but the guy says he wants to race too. How do you spell race? LOSI LST/LST2/AFTERSHOCK. PERIOD. :

The t-maxx's main weakness's are arms, axle carriers, shock towers, chassis rails and bulks.

Replace the arms/carriers/towers with RPM and bulks with aluminum and it should take quite a bit of abuse.

If you want to race and stick with a small block chassis, the revo is a great choice, but the arms on it are weak as well. RPM has those covered too. For general bashing and light racing, the revo with RPM arms/axle carriess is a generally tough rig.

The 2-speeds on the LST trucks are too finicky and unreliable IMO. If you try to adjust the shift points, they quit shifting all together. The steering linkage and servo savers are crap and also a pain to work on. But they do handle great with Adam Drake's race setup.

Get a used Baja 5B ss, there are things that I have done to my baja that would tear my 1/8 nitro cars into itty bitty little pieces. Obviously, I have kept my 8ight for racing. On a sidenote, other then the aftermarket pipe , everything is stock. I normally run close to 40min on one tank of gas. If it wasn't for racing, I would've most likely sold my 8ight.

+1 on both.

I haven't had much fuss with my 2 speed, but I know many who have. The steering setup does suck as well. Your forced to use servo mounted savers, which generally just stink to use.

However, a few shortcomings are found on pretty much any vehicle.

Thanks for all the advise but I went out and bought a Revo I thought that since I put all the upgrades into the t-maxx it should stand up to some heavy bashing I now I have a truck to go race after I make a few upgrades.
