It's probably my own fault somehow. After letting my buggy sit all winter and spring I'm finding out that some things don't work as well as they did last year. After a good cleaning, fresh batteries and some new fuel I started things up. The engine came to life rather quickly but the steering servo was glitching something wicked. I tried turning things off/on, checking all my connections, etc. but with no luck. Within a few minutes the glitching stopped completely and left me with a dead servo. I confirmed this by plugging in another one I had lying around and it worked fine, so the rcvr is ok. Thing is, it had very little run time on it. Anyways, I don't imagine that it's repairable and am taking recommendations on a good (non-digital) steering servo. Thanks.

I'll second that, and yes it is compatible, I have a JR XR3i and have run those 645s in the past. I now have the 5645 and it works on the JR too.

The 645 is a nice starter servo, strong but a little on the slow side. If you let us know your budget we can suggest more options.

For 10$ more, you can get a JR 650z. Same power, only faster.

How much do you want to spend? What was the servo that fried? If its an aftermarket you may be able to send it in and have it fixed for cheap.

The one that fried was the JR650M. The only backup servo I have right now is a JR270. Just to be cute I took the topend off the 650 and put it on the 270. I know, I know......the speed and torque is still going to be what the
270 electronics will allow. But now I have the metal gears of the 650 instead to the plastic/nylon ones. Anyways, as far as budget........price isn't what drives my purchases. I want something good and of course I always shop around. I'm not ready for digital quite yet. But for steering I want torque and I want speed. I did a little surfing and found this one:

But this one looks like a really good buy for what you get.

Opinions please.

Those are both great servos, if .20 seconds is too slow for you then it may be worth it for the 945.
