I already have a TMaxx but want a 1/8 MT. And can't decide between these 2. Please help me, I know that they are 2 totally different trucks and you shouldnt compare them . I want a MT that is near indestructable. My TMaxx breaks everytime out. But want a MT that I can do just about everything with. Let me know your pros and cons with either of these.

Okay, here goes.

As you said, these trucks are very diffrent. The X-Factor would be your best choice if you wanted some real life offroad action. It probably can crawl over any crevice or rock or things like that.
It is purely for slow motion offroading. It probably can reach high speeds because it has an immense engine. The 24.7 is a very big engine with awesome power and low end. The XF probably couldnt handle jumps and high speed bumps. Those things would probably blow right through the suspension.

As for the savage, that is in the same class as the Tmaxx. From what I've heard, not from experience, the Sav is a much better truck. Its plush suspension and its .21 capabilites are a big plus. As for size, it is only about 2 inches longer and alot taller, I think. But For racing, That truck is ideal. It is compatable with Tmaxx bodies wheels and rims, so that is a plus on your side. The savage also comes with HPI's .21 engine with (from what I've heard) isnt that bad. Its just not up to par with other .21's. The only downside to the savage is, its missing center protection. A useful upgrade would be a center skid plate.

As for my opinion, I would get the savage. But I dont own a MT and I dont know where to bash, so the savage would be a good racer if you ask me. The XF is probably the best realisitc MT out there. It is on the top of the rock crawling food chain. The XF has a serious ace up its sleeve, the R-Box. I dont know if youve heard of it, but its a electronic device where you can set a number of seconds, and after you hold the brakes for that long, it switches to reverse. Amazing! That saves you the hassle of getting that third channel radio and that little annoying button on the side.

As for your situation, If you are unhappy with your tmaxx, you could sell it and get the savage and upgrade it, or if your happy with tha maxxer, get the XF so you have two diffrent MT's.
Just my .02

Now for the opinion versus the fact.

In my opinion, if you want to bash you want the Savage. It has a stronger than most chassis. It has awesome suspension travel and ground clearance. It has a decent stock engine (though a better engine will most likely be one of your first hop ups). If you need reverse you can buy it, but this thing will run over most everything and using reverse will most likely not come into play. Pound for pound this truck out of the box can take some of the most severe punishment you can dish out and come back for more.

The XTM, has a powerful engine. The XTM 24.7 has been around for a bit and is often used as an upgraded engine for the T-Maxx. It does not have the ground clearance that the Savage does, and the placement of the steering servo is just asking for damage in any serious bash session. The suspension is modeled after a true to life monster truck and looks nifty, but that is where it ends. One serious jump or one serious crash and all that spindly stuff will get bent. I can not speak from personal experience with respect to its speed and handling, but from a purely design standpoint...this thing is made for crawling and flat surfaces. It is not designed for speed over a true offroad course. Would it handle a true offroad course? Probably, but the incidence of breakage would probably increase.

If you want an offroad basher, get a Savage. If you want an offroad racer, I think Savage again. If you just want crawling, the Savage can do that...but the XTM was designed for it.

BTW, next time...you might consider asking this question in the General Nitro or Other Monster Truck sections. Asking a choice between Savage and any other MT question in the Savage section is asking for an almost unanymous decision with Savage as the winner.

Well I was at the dreaded Hobby People the other day (it was 25% off on all lids that day). Anyways, they took out the X Factor and Hot Bodies Dirt Demon and placed them on top for everyone to check out.

Anyways, I was checking out the X Factor for the 1st time. Since, I own a Savage this is going to sound biased. But I have to agree with Sky. I don't like the suspension on the X Factor. Though it resembles that of an actual monster truck I don't like how the suspension compresses just under the chassis. Whereas the Savage compresses with the wheels. It's hard to explain this. But I think the excess energy from a jump are distributed better from the Savage than the X Factor. And I don't like how the X Factor's steering servo is mounted so low with the wires running up to the chassis. I'd just get too concerned with debris when I'm off road bashing.

As for the engines. I wouldn't care. I got the Hyper 8 port a couple of months after I got my Savage. You could always swap out for better one anyways.

I also met people who have the X Factor. But I never see them with it. For some reason they don't take it out with them when they run with us. Hmmm.
