Hi, first post here. I really enjoy reading this site very much and look forward to discussion with ya'll.

I have been reading about both, i am seeking opinions on which one is better and why?

Which one is least likely to break when bashing, what are the speed differences between them when running wide open!

I already have a NTC3 and it has given me the bug very bad! I am ready to buy one or the other just need help deciding....

Thanks
Buck

Savage= more durable basher less speed
T-maxx=faster speed less durable

What kinda of cost/parts would it take to make the T-Maxx as durable as the savage?

What kind of cost/parts would it take to mak the savage 25 run beside a Maxx on the big end?

Thanks for the input.
Buck

This is what it really comes down to out of the box!!

THe beauty of the T-maxx is it's design like I've said many times before but most everything on the truck short of the tranny and diffs needs to be hopped up..lol. Traxxas definitley doesn't make their stock parts strong enough....period. The T-maxx also has a great turning radius compared to the Savage.

The Savage is VERY TOUGH out of the Box and many of the issues that drove some crazy with the RTR .21 have been resolved with the RTR .25. It's much faster now and more fun with the .25 too. I may never buy a Savage but I'd still reco it to many. The Savage turning radius is less then stellar but she loves to bash.

Peace

like people have already said

The t-maxx is faster than the savage out of the box but less durable but thats just out of the box once you hop bothe of them them up in the end the t-maxx will be better

Yep, To each their own in the end. Every time I think about buying the new Savage .25 RTR or an SS......I think about how bad ass my Maxx will be with $500 more..hehe. You also can't denie the Savages rock climbing ability out of the box and especially with the lower gearing.

Peace

Uncle Buck...welcome to RCNT.

I am not going to revive the T-Maxx vs Savage pissing contest that always comes about when someone asks this most important of questions. The first thing you need to ask those that answer the question is do they have one of each. If the answer is no, then they are pretty much giving you a biased opinion. This does not invalidate the opinion, but it should cause you to think about their answer.

The next thing I would recommend doing is use the site's search function. This question has been asked quite often and answered in great depth many times. You may find the answer in the previous threads.

If you still need to know more, then ask away.

BTW, I own one of each...and for now put my money on the Savage. Be more than happy to discuss the choice via PM or other media.

I had a T-maxx, biggest peice of junk outta the box. The Savage gives me a boner.

i have a t-maxx, and my friend has a savage 25, but I've driven/tuned it enough to know its ups and downs.

t-maxx- plenty fast ok durability fairly simple chassis/design

pros- 2 speed, reverse, globs of hop ups
cons- weak plastic parts in important places (driveline, bulkheads, ect) the 2.5 is debatablely extreamly good/bad mine does wheelies when i want it to, but like everyone says "IT WONT HOLD A TUNE"

savage 25- bigger, really complicated chassis/design slower

pros- .25 engine with very nice performance, handle thingy massively durable plastic parts
collosal skidplates and really plush/endless suspention travel

cons- wanna change the batteries? better getstartted, you pretty much have to disassemble the entire truck before you can get to what you need to get to. poor handling, slow as christmas

Bashmaster...

That line about changing the batteries on the Savage cracked me up. I just did mine in under a minute. Pulled the pins, popped the top, swapped batts and did the reverse.

It is all in how you have things organized under the cover.

dude....1 minute????thats crazy, well now i can get it in about 5 but geeze 1?:microwave

drummerjamesh is the guy with the savage I'm refering too

the savage is really pretty good but at the moment his wont get into second gear for what ever reason, i think the tranny peice that you adjust the alllen screw(to adjust the shift point) has been crossthreaded to the point that when you turn it nothing happens, or it slipps out, but idont really know.
i was impressed with the wheelies the savage can pull, even tho its said that they arnt good, its still fun, of course the trx2.5 will wheelie the crap out of the sportmaxx.

skymaxx-
you must be right about how you have it organized under the cover of the radio tray on the savage, becaouse james' is a 5 minute fight to the death with bloody fingers and such.
:egad:

I'll have to snap a picture of it. Perhaps it will help. A set of needle nose pliers helps in a huge way when it comes to removing the cotter pins that hold the lid on.

yeah i use needle noses, but the getting the front end back on is no fun...besides that its ok..i think I'm gonna get a hump pack and stick the charger wire out of the on/off swich hole so i NEVER have to take it off again

The hump-pack is a great idea.

Sorry to hear that the needle-nose seems to like your fingers more than the cotter pins. I wonder if there's a way to give those flesh eating pliers a taste for metal...:D
