Both are good trucks and you have people tell you that the t maxx is better as with the savage. I have never owned a savage, but I have 2 t maxxs that I rip with. You are going to break something no matter what you buy, especially if you are hard on them. But you aint supposed to be easy with them anyway, so which ever one you buy, plan on spending money in the future for brokin parts.

So true so true. Beit a Maxx or Savageor even a Monster GT..Expect to pay up for parts. If you don't break anything you aren't having that much fun with it!! I will definitely put both my rides( Monster GT and the TMAXX!!!) to the maxx

Ok Sky I'll have to lie then and I think that might be against the rules, I don't wanna get banned again.....it's....Hobby.....World..... I guess

My buddy is puttin up his own track at his RC plane field. There is more than enough room for one.

Fun , Yes to do plan to have fun and allready plan on get extra parts. Dont want a small break down keep me from ( breaking something else) playing the rest of the day.

Most likely bust something right after break in . :)

"ALL OR NOTHING "

ty agian for the input

Got__Nitro? I would be very careful about believing anything I hear from a HobbyTown USA. There are very few in this country that actually have a clue about what they are doing or selling.

Sebek, you can't go wrong with either truck. I would say that the Savage is stronger out of the box...and a blast to play with. I've got one of each, and believe me I know how to "play". I will say this about the two. I have spent only about $600 on the Savage (by choice) to upgrade things to my liking. I have spent over $1000 on the T-Maxx (some by choice, most out of necessity) to upgrade things to withstand the beatings. Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, the Savage is the better truck in my opinion.

I lean on the T-Maxx side of the scale on this on. I love to bash with it! Also Hop-ups was huge consideration for me cause I like to fix things that are not yet broken. Having reverse and the easy starting played a huge role too! But as much as you can make a check list about qualities as I always do the decision comes down to the cosmetics of what you think a R/C Truck should look like.

I would agree Sky. I took a nitro rustler to them to see if they knew wat was wrong with it, and they didn't fix a thing. I went home and got it goin' nice. I think the HPI radio still works, but when I showed them wat it was doing they said it was my radio and then I got a diff one and it did the same thing. Then they didn't have a clue wat it was. But there's no other shop around so I'm stuck with them. Back to the topic though: I think the Savage is better stock also and a T-maxx is better to get a new engine first. I'v heard bad things about both TRAXXAS engines.

You might also want to get a Fail Safe and a Throttle Return Spring (each has their own function). Also, get a metal gear servo w/ more torque. If you get a receiver pack, the steering servo only has 90 oz of torque, with AAs, you only get 70 oz of torque. A Hitec 645MG has metal gears and has 130? oz of torque w/ a receiver pack.

Good Luck!
Matt

BTW, I was going to get the savage, but I ended up getting a 1/8 buggy instead.

Get the savage. Not that the max is that bad but the savage this alot stronger. A bud of mine has a max but he is buying his boy a savage soon. My two cents.

LMAO!! I have to agree with you there Sky, there are 3 in my general area, Sioux Falls, SD. Norfolk, Neb. and Grand Island, Neb. I have delt with the one in Sioux Falls several times and Brad knows his stuff when it comes to nitro, the store in Norfolk is a different story, they couldn't help me at all with a servo, I'll probably not see the one in Grand Island since it's about 3 hours away, but I can say that the one in Sioux Falls is a good one, Brad and Rod are both good people and are good with the nitro r/c's

Well i got my savage and bought some parts before it got here. Along with a Used Motor ( 1/2 gallon through it for $60). Swaped out the new motor and put the used broke in motor . Played with it indoors at my shop for about a tank and BAM i hit an I-Beam. Well i broke the upper/lower control arms and about broke a shock. OOOPs.
I had fun at any rate and would do it again.

Just thought I would update everyone

Like I said you will break parts with any truck and thats the bottom line. Its all fun still!!!

my savage with a 25 and a nova head ate t maxx's for breakfast no sweat, then ran them over... and was more durable. too bad i had to sell it, i regret it to this day , I'm getting another one this summer.

good decision on the savage

I already had my Savage .25 and then I ran into a great deal on a Maxx. $50 for a RTR maxx. I've only put about $20 more into it and just have to get a pull start for it and I'll be set. I hope it runs as good as my Savage. Either way I've got myself a $100 Maxx. Not a bad deal huh?

Where in theblue hell did you get a rtr maxx for 50? AND another for 100? I thought I got a great deal for aNEW TMAXX 2.5 for 200. It was originally 300 but I I got it for 200 after I told my cousin it was for my wife.!!!!

I got this friend that needed some cash really bad. He sold his Savage .21 for $250. He told me he would sell me his Maxx for $50, but it needed some parts. I looked at it and all it needed was a brake setup and a pull starter. So I gave him the $50 and went to my LHS and paid $20 for the complete brake set. Just went and got the pull start $26 and put it in last night. I got it all together and started it today.

Now this is my set back if anyone can help me. It started first pull, got it warmed up, and drove it. When I drive it, it clunks like the tranny is slamming hard. It does go, but I don't like the clunking. It also sounds like it revs a bit before the tranny engages. Maybe the tranny needs adjusted? This is my first Maxx and have no idea were to start. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks for anything.

any grindin? You should examine for any visual damage. Take a look at the diffs see if there is anything bent. I would really open her up and see if there is any internal damage. Maybe that is why you got such a deal. He may have sold you a clunker. Is this a Pre 2.5 Maxx? Go to the Traxxas Help Page . See if this helps you out. I wouldn't drive it till you figure out the problem. I am not saying you have a big problem. You may have an adjustment that needs to be done. But I don't know since I can't see what is going on!!

My maxx does the same when it's cold. After it runs for a few minutes it works fine.
