So I just found out that one of my local hobby shops(B&B Hobbies) is closing down in June because the guys who own it are getting too old and nobody wants to take over from them. Now, I want you to think about what would happen if your local hobby shop closed down? I'm lucky enough to have another hobby shop not to far that I can still go too, but I made me sad to think about all the people who aren't as fortunate as I am. Another thing, this place has been open since 1965! It's probably one of the oldest hobby shops in the US! And the same 2 guys have been running it their whole lives! Everything about it is insane. It just makes me sad every time I think about it. And remember, this is not the only place this is happening. My dad remembers when there were hobby shops galore, but now they are all disappearing because online shopping has become so prevalent and easier than actually going somewhere. I guess my whole message is to support your local hobby shops, cuz you never know how good you have it until it's gone.

We have lost Bills hobby, pioneer valley hobby, and hog heaven hobby over the last 20 years or so. No one has stepped in to fill the void. We still have Rc Madness as a last stand. Many of the guys are young enough they should keep going for a good while. After that...who knows.

1) majority of the younger generation doesn't want to get into physical hobbies like RC
2) owning and running a hobby shop is too expensive since it's a niche market and the economy is always declining
3) Phones, AI, the Internet, and Google (@CertifiedMike 😉🫠) are apart of the issue.

I lost one a handful of years ago. If I recall there was a sudden death that threw the whole thing into liquidation.

There is one more left in town and they're massive! They've made some moves too in the new climate; teamed up with AMain to be a Canadian distributor. Saves me a ton on Amain stuff!

I don't see them going anywhere, the youngest kids are involved now and a lot of the staff has grown up there. They're also always busy shipping all over the country.

I feel very fortunate.

at least y'all have RC hobby shops round seemingly every corner, there are like 4 (maybe even fewer) shops in my entire city lol
I have one shop that’s a half hour away from home, and there’s a track somewhat near that (I didn’t know it was there) nearest track after that is an hour 30

If you be live in the C’dA or Spokane area, you owe yourself a visit to this place! RC cars and planes are just the start….”Hobby Emporium” as a title comes to mind when I enter their doors. Nice and knowledgeable guys to help.
