ok i seem to be having a problem of my truck only driving in reverse. it only has forward and i have driven it and it will run fine but one of the bearings went on my rear diff so i switched the front to the rear and now when i put it on the starter box either way it only runs in reverse!!any suggestions??i dont know if it is cranking in reverse or if it has something to do with my switched diffs.plz help!!!

thanks,
tyler

On your Maxx (I assume that is what you are running) Does it have a 3 channel radio? Also if it does it should have reverse. And how long have you had the truck? So basicly I wouyld say your tranny is in reverse. Can you give a lil more info.

Steve

Its sound like the linkage to the foward/reverse is sticking or mabe your servo isnt switching it over I had the same problem and that is what it was. I removed reverse and added a foward only conversion you might want to consider doing that. It make the truck way more responsive and reduces weight since you loose a couple extra gears and linkages and a servo.

no its not three channel i just have a center diff because i have the jt racing chassis so it can't be stuck in reverse i guess it is what rolex said that they are upside down.but i dont know.thanks guys i will switch them rite side up and try it and get back with ya.

thanks,

Listen to them if u want to keep your reverse but if I were u I would go with the FOC like what Jesse G said. 99% of the time the reverse is more trouble them it is worth :2cents:

i dont have the t-maxx tranny i have the cented diff with the jt hybrid chassis.it is like the diff on the dominator 1 speed.

Putting a diff back upside down is a common mistake. There are a few old threads floating around this forum where members made a one truck-truck pull, since one pulled forward, and the other pulled backwards.
Don't worry, you're not the first one who made that mistake. I now have mine marked with paint so I don't have to think about it next time I have them out.

thanks rolex i just switched it around and started it and it ran fine but this is my next question....i have the os .21rg and it turns over both ways. used to i had to put it a certain direction on the starter box for it to go forward and the other way it would go in reverse. when i just started it...i started it the way it went in reverse before and it went forward. so this is the ?...does it hurt the engine or is it bad for it if it goes either way because i dont want to ruin my engine and if it does matter which way should the flywheel be spinning....clockwise or counterclockwise???

thanks for the info guys!!!!!

If there's no one-way bearing, like with a pull start or rotostart, these 2 strokes CAN run in reverse. They never put out the same amount of power, and you can tell by the sound that something is not right. Shut it down immediately.
It's common practice to start a 2 stroke plane engine by giving the prop a backwards snap. The compression will flip it forward, and it starts in the right direction. Needless to say, the blast of air from an airplane lets you know if it's running backwards.

so i did start it backwards when i did start it a while ago because i had to start it the other way before all of thi happened so i will know next time!!you have been alot of help!!!!!

thanks,
tyler
