The reverse module on my SS doesn’t engage completely all of the time. Sometimes when I switch from the forward to reverse position, the silver thing doesn’t pull out all of the way. When I turn the spur gear by hand I can feel a click like the gears finally engage and then the servo is able to pull the silver thing out to the reverse position. This does not happen when switching from reverse back to forward– only from forward to reverse.

Has anyone else had this problem? Luckily I discovered this while installing the throttle/brake linkage mod and not while the engine was actually running. I’m seriously considering taking the reverse out. I’d rather use my legs to turn the truck around rather than trashing the tranny.

Sometimes they do that. When I switch from forward to reverse (or vice versa) I give it just a hint of throttle untill I see it edge in the proper direction. I wish HPI would put something like that in the instructions. 1:1 manual tranny's do the same thing. Just make sure the silver bar slides freely, the servo horn is the proper length, and the rubber stopers on teh linkage are set correctly. Don't switch directions and just nail the threootle, or damage might occur.

Mine used to shift from forwards to reverse really lazily, until I fitted the hump pack, now it shifts really positively. I also played around with the brass collars and fuel pipe spacers until I got it shifting really well. Now when it starts to piss around shifting, I know it's time to charge the hump pack!:classic:

I took it out and had less trouble with the truck altogether. can't say i miss reverse at all but i would like to find something that can flip the truck back onto its wheels cus mine spends more time on its lid.

u running a .25, trying getting more teeth. like a 18t setup? :ahh:

What does that have to do with boilermaker13's reverse module problem?

Smells like :spam to me.

I think he meant, to try and keep it from flipping over i.e. wheeliying due to too low gearing.

DOGPILE, if you want to stop it turning over, I recommend getting lower profile/stiffer sidewall tyres. Worked for me.

I tightened up the brass collars/fuel hose spacers. I also installed a longer servo arm which has given the servo more throw. It seems to be engaging better now - at least on my work bench.

Boilermaker, if the problem persists, try shortening the fuel hose spacers, that solved the problem on mine.
