Thanks all for the replies on the slipper clutch. I have another question. On the used T-Maxx I picked up the antenna wire is cut off at the top of the antenna tube so it's only about 14 inches long. This seems too short. On my Nitro Stampede, which also operates in the 27 MHz band, the antenna wire is about 24 inches long.

Either the previous owner cut the excess antenna wire at the end of the tube and it's too short or it's supposed to be this length and there is a loading coil somewhere on the receiver to match the antenna length. Can someone with a T-Maxx 2.5 measure the length of the antenna wire from the receiver box and post the length. Thanks.

the older rx wire was probably ripped or resoldered on. i would use a new pice of wire, same gauge, and match it to the Stampedes antenna wire.

the radio and frequencys are pretty reliant on exact antenna wire lengths.
the wires should be the same lengths. atleast between the stock traxxas units.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I wasn't sure if there was a loading coil on the receiver that compensated for a different antenna length and I didn't want to open up the Stampede to check the receiver part number. I called Traxxas and they confirmed that the antenna wire length is 24" for the 3 channel receiver (part #2215) in the T-Maxx.
