I wish I could have, people at the hobby show wanted to see it run. Here's what it looked like when it was pristine:

Awesome Jose, thanx. Those pictures were good... I see now what you were saying, it makes sense.

your car is sweet and your motor has tons of torque and Cam told me to run it off the roof the other day and I landed on all fours :ahh: DIALED !!! j/k :fro:

Well what can I say????

I bought a Swift 10 days ago, have only run it twice so far.........

IT KEEPS BREAKING!!!

So far, problems include,
Missing a cvj pin when I opened the box, replaced free by Schumacher but took 3 days.
Pull starter completely disintegrated, and I was using it correctly! Replaced by Schumacher free of charge, but took 2 days.

Now......... the front diff has given up, this buggy has not even been run in yet, it's only been up and down my garden! I'm sick of it already!

I just emailed Shumacher to tell what I think of their fragile buggy!

I am soooooooooooo dissapointed with it, I thought I might at least get a bit of fun out of it before I had to do any major work.

It just sounds like they released it before the development work was complete, no where in the handbook does it mention shims for diffs, how was I supposed to know to do it?

I'm not happy!

Hi to all though!

...

We lost a CVJ on Saturday, first run after break-in. We found the drive shaft but the pin and barrel are lost.

Phoned Schumacher yesterday and they agreed to send me a new pins and barrels. A complete driveshaft with hub drive, barrel and pin arrived in this morning's post (they had no pins or barrels in stock). Gonna rebuild the other three CVJs as a precaution.

Shame about the problems with your car, hope there are no more to come.

Unfortunately as Roger said to me... they have little or no control how they are built at the factory. You probibly have an older Swift that has been in stock for a while. It sucks that they go out the door with things that need to be addressed right away before running, but thankfully I did my research and talked to Roger at happytimehobby first so that I knew exactly what to do and how. Shimming the diffs is annoying, but once you get it done, your in good shape. The CVJ's are even more annoying, but again... once you get them done, your done with them for the most part. Just hang in there... they have great support and with a hour of work on your buggy, you'll be back up and running again in no time and having tons of fun. BTW, make SURE you go over the gear mesh on the center diff to motor... get it as tight as possible with the gears being able to spin free by loosening the 4 motor mount screws and adjusting. Once you get the right place... LOCK TITE them, cause they weren't on mine and I have a later production model even.

Don't forget you are dealing with the best support in the industry here... so it may be frusterating, but if you get them on the horn, they are great people to work with and will go all of the way for you to get you up and running. I can guarantee you that the last thing they want is an unhappy customer.

Savage, I bought my Swift 2nd hand and after checking it over it became obvious that it wouldn't drive (diffs needed shimming), so ever the bench racer, it was duly stripped and rebuilt.

All the info you need is already in this forum so just go back, the guys are really helpful and enthusiastic.

Shimkit part numbers are even posted too!

Fair points from you all.........

But once it's broken, it sort of takes the shine off it?

I was very excited and thought myself lucky to be able to source one, even drove 300 miles to collect it to ensure that the Postie didn't wreck it! I needn't have worried, PRP didn't build it right, it wrecked itself!! I don't mean to sound too negative here, but it's hard to spend a weeks wages on a toy that doesn't even run properly............. you might start to wonder why you didn't spend the money on a well developed car like a Savage.........

Oh well I'm sure we'll see what happens, maybe Schumacer will send me new diffs??? Yeah right!?

It's not for sale yet, sorry, but who knows.............

Have you spoken with Roger regarding this yet? If not, you should give him a call... he really is about the nicest and most helpfull person in the industry. Before you lose all hope, just give him a call. I understand what you mean... very eager to buy it, get it running and everything (especially after driving 300 miles!!!??? Good god man!), but still... once you go over it, you'll be glad you did... for many reasons. I was in the same exact boat as you... I drove a tank through it hoping that I could at least break it in before I worked on it and I immediately threw a CVJ... not the pin, but the screw that locks it to the front barrel to the front Diff came lose and the drive shaft went bouncing all over the place maring the hell out of the frame but whatever. That was a nice wake up call I thought... at least I didn't cause any real damage and at least I didn't lose any parts.

I was irritated as hell that I had to do it all, but after doing it, oh man... you will be glad, cause you will know your car and it's really easy. I know it doesn't sound like fun, but trust me, you will be glad in the end. Call Roger, he will hook you up. He's a great guy.

Thanks for your help and concern, I am reasonably capable with these cars so it's not the fact that a daunting task lies ahead, it's absolute indignation! Why should I have to spend money and waste my time repairing known issues? It's not right, if they sold me the buggy for a cheap price and said it might need a few repairs then that's fair, but not to sell it as a ready to go and they actually knew there are serious issues with it, then I really don't think that's fair...........

I am annoyed that PRP and Schumacher know there are problems with these cars but carry on selling them without warning or offering free upgraded parts, for example the pull start I had replaced was the same rubbish quality as the first, so I bought a Roto Start and if I ever get the chance to run this thing again I'm sure the starting will be easier at least!

It seems that these cars are built at the cheapest rate with no thought to the consequences of their failure, what if the loose cvj in your car had flipped out and taken your eye out, they KNEW that these cvjs had a fault...........

I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED!!!!

Aaron,

Just out of interest, are the anodised parts on your car champagne or purple coloured?

I have one of the latest batch of cars with "Schumacher purple" anodising.

Roger and/or Jose... you guys going to chime in here guys? This guy is pretty :argue: pissed off.

Roger: good we need more test time on the car. haha

Savage_SAVAGE: I am sorry to hear your frustration, unfortunately we (PRP) have no control over the Europe buggies and the customer support. If we can help you in any way to get going let us know.

WA2FAST: Man no props for me and Cameron. Just kidding, Roger is cool

Savage: I meant happytime instead of PRP. But honestly let me know if I can help, I would like to get this problem fixed.

Hi again!

Very good news to report..........:cheerful:

Have just received an email from Shumacher in the UK, less than 6 hours after I emailed them, which I reckon is good service!

I don't think they'd mind me singing their praises and copying part of it here.............

Dear Aaron

Sorry to hear of the problems you are having with your Swift buggy. There are two ways we can offer to sort your problem out. One is to send you the replacement gears and shim set free of charge and have an engineer call you and talk you through how to replace and shim the gears. The other option is for us to collect the car and have an engineer check the car over and carry the work out for you free of charge. Please let us know what you would like us to do.

Best Regards,

Well............. all things considered I reckon that is good service!!!

I haven't taken them up on their collection offer because I think it would be best for me to see how it all works so as to be able to repair/shim the other 2 diffs!

Thanks for all your encouragement in my dark hours!!

Should be screaming by the weekend at this rate!

Will post pics when I get it going.

Thanks again.

I'll be right back here again when I get my parts........
 lol

In the meantime, look at where this lucky lad gets to play all on his own every day all day if I want to, my mate is the Security man for the site!!!

Regards

Aaron
