ProLine making a running change on tire inserts/foams and not changing product pictures and descriptions? Scam??

I have a "set" of Bald Eagle MC Truck slicks for my rustler. All the tires are the same part number, 8304.

One pair I got in August of 23 and the other pair I got in March of 24. Don't ask me why.

Just took them off because I originally glued them up terribly. And I just noticed that 1 pair (the original pair I got, I think) has these inserts and the second pair I got came with the inserts with the tabs on them. Is this why my original pair had more traction than the 2nd pair? The original pair, the inserts are softer and have contact between the foam and tire. The 2nd pair I got with the "tab" inserts are harder, but you can feel there is air between the foam and tire like these foams weren't meant for these tires.

I'm confused as when I input the part number in PLs site, it has these foams and not the tab ones. Also searched it they sell the tab foams but they only sell the regular non tab foams.

Should I contact Proline or should I just get the regular foams and glue them back up?

Edit: Both the MC and S3 comes with the same non tab insert so I'm genuinely confused.

David, contacting P-L will probably route you through Horizon Hobby. Still, they were helpful with my questions.

Also try the P-L website to see if you can get product description there. Might have to go to discontinued items for info on both inserts. Also try YouTube RC no-prep Drag Racing for tire info. Had some good hits there. Hope this helps. -AC

I couldn't find my original thread/post/pictures, but pics below says it all. Same tire, different style of inserts. The insert shown on the right is what comes on newer tires... a running change.

yea PL got back to me and said it is a running change.

But still they haven't changed the actual pictures of the Bald Eagle tires online and they don't sell the "new" inserts separately. Horizon, ugh.

The older style inserts gives off more traction and is softer. Wonder why they made the change. Oh I see. Because they sell the old insert they want people to switch them out to get more money. Its all about money these days. They don't care about the racers/the people.

We run raw speed tires a lot on our clay track and their inserts are so damn stiff I started using my hole punch and making three holes across the width of the insert for every tab on the insert. Works out really well for me.

I might try that out thanks for the tip!

Got the inserts and still ProLine and Horizon is still scamming us.
These are not the old inserts I asked for, these are the new ones.
I get it thats its a running change but seriously let the customers know and CHANGE the product PICTURES and DESCRIPTIONS along with the change!!! Like wth.
The pictures still shows the old style inserts, the non tab ones which are softer and gives off more traction rather than the new ones which are harder. Ill try punching holes in the inserts though. More stress and hassle for me yay. Noted. Not gonna use proline 1/10 tires.

Looks like Horizon will getting a mean email from me tomorrow morning!

"No air gaps in between tires unlike other brands"

Yeah right. The new inserts have a HUGE air gap between the tires. the old ones which are still in the picture on the listing has 0 air gap. Why would they change the foam to make it more unstable and preform worse????!!!!!

ARE YOU QUESTIONING THE MIGHTY KNOWLEDGE OF THE HORIZON???😲

You WILL take what you get and you'll LIKE IT!!! 🤯🤬😠

Well honestly I'm not surprised anymore. Horizon trashed duratrax, aka, Trinity and now Proline so it's to be expected. I mean Proline isn't trashed yet but if they just stop scamming people I would forgive them but whatever.

They trashed TLR and left them in the dust. Just wanna focus on arrma and losi and that's it.
I actually just contacted Team Blue Groove. I told em "forget the Optima Mids bodies!!! Vintage Kyosho is NOTHING compared to a FISH TRUCK!!!"
I hope they release a turtle monster truck soon! 🙄🤣

Arrma makes money so I get it but closing down all the good companies that Horizon buys up...???
I'm not entirely sure I entirely understand killing our favorite companies and replacing them with fish trucks

Long long ago in a RC galaxy far far away there existed the local hobby shop (aka LHS). There, believe it or not, one could actually look at and touch the product one was considering for purchase.

Fortunately, the dark side came to the rescue of the RC enthusiast and forced LHS into exile, leaving only the option of on-line purchasing. Like a box of chocolates. Not often sure what flavor you'll get.

Used to be, "My way or the highway." Anymore it seems 'My way and the highway.' Take the money and run. -AC

The LHS owner would take interest to stock the parts that their customers want. (the parts that sell)
If ProLine inserts went south, LHS owner can call and tell Proline they are going to loose 20-50-100??? sales unless they get this worked out...
We are now left to deal with it on our own, one on one. We have no buying power.
"Take it and like it" 😐

@DavidB1126 , You may have to re-look using old school open cell inserts to get the softness you are looking for. Schumacher used to offer them in two grades of soft in 2.2 buggy and ST. Have Schumacher soft's in my 2.2 drag slicks for a larger footprint. Don't know about 2.2/3.0 availability. Not sure what you're looking for.

The P-L inserts you are posting about mention 'waterproof' more than once in the description. Could be these inserts are destined for the basher market more than the racer market? That's where the bucks are these days. Bashers want a quality insert that will last at least as long as a tire. Racers are willing compromise on life as they tend to change out inserts and tires more often.

Contact some competiting makers of inserts and ask them what compares to or is a grade of softness your are looking for. Chances are they've tested the P-L's against their own range of inserts and can make recommendations. Just a thought. -AC
