wanted to know if there is anyway to improve the steering on the nitro monster king, when making a 180 degree turn it seems like it needs a lot of space looking for a way to imporve if possible

thanks

Rechargeable receiver pack, stronger servo and grippier tires would all aid in steering. The down side would be a truck that traction rolls easier.

Thanks
Can you recommend a servo that would be stronger

is it possible to find a charger for the receiver pack that is cheaper than $70 seems a little steep to me

thanks

Chargers that would charge a receiver pack under $50:

I have this first one and an older model of the second one:

I can use either to charge NiCAD or NiMH 1-8 cell packs, so I use them for transmitters and glowplug heaters as well.

The stock steering servo I think is the HPI SF-1. All I can find for torque anywhere on that servo is that it's "standard torque". So, best guess would say it's 90oz or less. I'm not sure of the spline count.

A futaba S3305, Hitec 645MG or JR Sport ST126MG should certainly be an improvement over stock.

Well, most typical receiver packs, like the ones I posted, are 5 cell 2/3A sized cells. That one that you posted is 4 cell.

Rechargeable NiMH cells only allow 1.2V per cell whereas alkaline cells have 1.5V per cell. So, with 4 NiMH cells your getting 4.8V and 4 alkaline cells give you 6V. You want 6V to have your servos running at their peak, but you also want decent run time and rechargeable, so the 2/3A packs are what we typically use.

Myself, I use a 5 cell NiMH AA pack that I make (when I can fit them on a vehicle). Then I get both long run times and rechargeable.

I posted the 4 cell because that is the one that looks Like it would fit in the battery holder on the truck.
So I guess I shouldnget 4 alkaline to give me 6 volts

Thanks
Can u post a link to the battery pack you are talking about the above links are chargers and servos.

Sorry about that, that was a different thread I posted receiver packs in.

Here's one:

I don't have a hump pack laying around anymore, but I do have a 2/3A flat pack, so I compared it to a 4 cell holder and after looking at them the dimensions would be almost the same.

if that would fit that would be great not at home so dont have my truck, but its a little bigger then 2 X 2 AA batteries together.

It's a hair bigger, but should jam in if the one you buy didn't get a ton of solder on it. I think they spot weld most anyway, so the thickest part on the end of the battery could be the wire.

Mines a bit bigger too because it was wrapped in electrical tape then plasti-dipped for winter running. Has definitely seen better days... :)

Plan on bringing my truck to the hobby shop to see if the battery will fit, if it does i will pick one up.
In regards to the charger this is the only battery I will be charging, what is the 1 charger you would recommend?

Any of these would get it done. Just depends on your budget. I like the MRC959, but the 960 is still available. You have to adjust the charge rate everytime you unplug the power from it, but that's just a few button presses.
