That's correct.I believe originately it stood for 4-barrel, 4-speed, dual exhaust.
I had both a '69 GTO with the hidden headlights option and a '69 Grand Prix. They both had 400s with turbo 400 transmissions. Wish I still had them.

That car pictured above... it recently sold for $163,000 at auction. https://www.yahoo.com/news/a-buick-grand-national-gnx-just-sold-for-record-116998332992.html30 grand? Wow. I know it was rare compared to the GM lineup of super cars of that era. Olds had real success with the 442 while Buick was still trying to get rid of the "Father's car image".
These are the same as the 2 I had. Both forest green. The Grand Prix had a black vinyl top and the GTO had a white one. I stripped the vinyl tops off both of them. The GTO was T-boned and BENT beyond repair. The Grand Prix I had for 22 years, on and off the road, and 4 different paint jobs.

This is similar to my first car, a 74 LeMans, 2 door, luxury sport interior. Totalled by a firetruck! Second car was a 76 Lemans Sport Coupe (had to use the term "sport" loosely). You get a few people biding on a car ,no doubt ,it could go higher than what their actually worth.
I've also seen car builders lose their arse in auctions
Love those cars ,I grew up riding in them ,an my mother use to have the grand prix like that.
She also had this one ,in which it had the 400 an a 400 trans with shift kit installed ,also had a
rv cam put in.
74 Pontiac lemans sport coup.

I have always been fond of the boattail Riviera, pre-73. It should have been built in a smaller platform though. Would have been proportionally better on the mid-sixties Riv chassis
A true Land Yacht! That's a big ol car right there!
I never saw anything like that. What a brilliant design.
That's pretty darn cool. Never even seen this before let alone knew the VW beetle would be able to pull a camper.
