PICCO 26 or PICCO P3

Yep, the Picco .26's are a serious engine, no doubt.

I know most people dont seem to like the TTR engines, but I really like thie .21 engines they built for the MGT.

They are IMHO an excellent RTR engine.

The starting system on the new TTR .21 is the best anywhere, bar none.

The carb has all 3 adjustment screws on the same side, and facing the rear of the truck making them extremely easy to access to tune the engine with the body on.

They are also the only RTR engine I have ever seen with a cross drilled crank, designed to oil the rod bushing.

Yes, they have terrible vacuum leaks at the carb, and back plate unless you seal them with silicone, but are nearly Indestructable!

JFYI, Jon's stock .21 from his MGT, with the stock gearing (15/52), on T Maxx sized tires, (6.2" tall) ran 34 mph... totally stock.

Changing the gear spur gear from a 52, to a 46, the truck ran 37mph.... Engine temps for max speed ranged from 230-250 degrees, stock.

After I ported his engine, and tuned it, the first pass netted 37mph with stock gearing, and 40MPH with the 46t spur gear.

His engine made enough torque to do wheelies with the 46t spur gear, and would flip over backwards with the 52t gear after I ported it. The engine temps for max speed hovered around 180-190 degrees after I ported it.

It idles very low, and has instant, crips throttle response.

They won't make as much power as a Picco .26, not even close.... But they will turn enough rpm that you can make up for the lack of torque with lower gearing, and still run excellet MPH.

wow, sounds like you are a good "porter" (joke)
but you do seem to know engines really well. You should actually start a buisness where people send their engines to you, and you port them...id be a customer.

Bill- I am looking forward to getting the engine. Too bad it is supposed to rain. I hope there is a break and I can go out and test it. I am patient though. I know I am going to like the power it has now. THanks again Bill. I got a screaming deal on the P3 for cheap. Since you did this for me I will pass the same deal to you maybe even better. I am definitely thinking of getting this ported if things go well. I will let you know about that in a pm. If you want to give me the tracking number just PM me and I will give you the awesome price for the werks P3!!

~Jon

Jon, check your PM's... I sent the engine back express mail. Its garaunteed to your door by 3pm tomorrow. I'll pm ya with the tracking #.

Hey 30%Nitroboy. I got the mill back in my MGT and damn this thing SCREAMS!!!!I bought the 46 tooth spur gear and will have to wait to see the true power.I am curious what the 46 will do. HEY BILL CAN YOU HEAR ME WHERE YOU ARE AT?
This engine is freaking AWESOME!!. I will talk to you later.
As for everyone else my MGT has some great power now. Hope I can post a vid.

Hey Jon2 - That's sweet dude, so she's a screamer now huh. I'd love to c a vid of that thing.:w00t:

Ok Ask Bill as he has the Venom speedometer and it reads spot on. I never said it had 2 xtra ports. There is a difference but not in the sleeve. I was talking to Bill Myself and he saw that the Werks Picco 26 has a difference but can't remember as it was said on the phone and I can't remember!. If there is anyone go ask him. Bill also does his own work and trust me when I say that it shows. My ported 21 will outrun the Picco 26 due to the fact it will rev higher then the picco 26. But when it comes to the new P3 it does rev higher then its predecessor.

30% nitroboy I will try and get some vids going. I want to play with the gearing as I want to get a hold of a 18 tooth clutch bell. Do you have a MGT? if not what do you have?

actually the p3 has less rpm's then the picco 26 and I was posting that thread just to show you what other people were saying about the difference between the 2 engines. we'll have to run our trucks together since my savage has a picco 26, I live in todd ranch let me know

are you sure about the rpms? . I actually want to run against your Savage. I want to see what it really has now that it is ported. LMK . DO you go to the Hobbypoeple in Camarillo? Pm and lets get some details!!!

Ok I read it wrong here are the specs on theP3
and here is the spec on the spec on the
Ofna Picco 26

The Picco P3 does have higher HP but the Ofna Picco 26 has higgher RPMs but not the HP. Sorry Waybad. I jumped the gun there. I think I would get both then make a more constructive post.

This isn't the first thread on this suject and I have had direct communication from Werks. I was told that the 33,000 rpm specs were the latest from Picco and that they were not the same version as the competitors. Werks ordered them with the porting. The porting work is done to remove the exhaust gasses quicker than the Ofna/Orion version. Now I have to find the other thread and correct it.

really so can you tell us what the spec are for the werks Picco?

The gentleman at Werks says it's the published specs on the site and says they are from Picco. This info is conflicting with info contained in another thread.

which thread is that? I read somewhere that almost everything was identical but soemthing on the crank case.. I think. Just not sure where the actual difference is.. I will do some more hunting.

Hey Bill, do you have any pics of the porting you have done? Or are they top secret only???

It's cool to see that you can eak out more power out of these little screamers.

I had some pics on here at one time, but since one of the moderators banned me from the site the other day, I had to e mail Michael to get my pics taken down. He evidentally removed the ban from my user name so I could log into my acount to take them down myself, but now my IP address is blocked from home. So, the only way I can access this site is from work.

Evidentally, one of the mods here thinks he's god, so I deleted all my pics from the gallery and I won't be putting anymore back up.

(at least on this site)

Ask Jon if he would take some pics of his engine. Maybee he can post them, or e mail them to you.

Sorry.

Yeah I laughed about that one, nice touch.

However there isn't a mod here nor another admin that can ban a member by their IP. I am the only person who can do so, and I have not banend ANY of your IP's. There is no reason why you can't access this site from home, I'd try clearing your cookies.

I did clear the cookies in my computer, and for what ever reason, no matter how I try to get on this site from home, my browser takes me to a search site that says this site doesn't exist, or is not available. It was fine before I "went on vacation"

Sounds like either your computer at home or a router somewhere upstream has bad DNS info that might be trying to point you to the old server.

I'd try doing a ping from work and one from home. They should resolve the same destination IP, if not, then DNS is the problem. If the home PC is NT based, do an ipconfig /flushdns from a command window. that should fix it if it's a DNS issue.
