New to the mini sceen of crawling. Been in the 1/10 game since covid and currently have a RCSpeedy R2 moonbuggy, Poizd T3, Toyzuki V2.5 and a TF2 on twistedfab stage 2 leafs with all the twisted goodies.
Just picked up the Furitek TerraX, waiting on 1.3'' wheels and tires, and installed the metal servo horns. Already has some brass out of the box so I want to Overdrive or Underdrive it. I can't find much info on OD/UD with mini micro crawlers. Any info would help.
Thanks

what help are you lookin for my man?
over drive has an extra tooth or a few extras, so when the pinion turns it hits more or less teeth than the opposite axle, makiing the overdriven wheels (front) turn a little more than the rear. so the front is constantly trying to pull the back tires up and over an obstacle.
under drive does the opposite, youd put it in the rear axle, making the rear tires turn faster making it instead push the car up and over the obstacle.
i was onna put over in the front and under in the rear. figuring id maximise my driving,
well turns theres a reason we dont have many rc tractors lol
it ends up being no fun going as slow as possible. i mean yeah ittl torque its way up that hill, but it goes so slowly now its got a new frustration added to it.

overdrive for the front :
pulls the truck into obstacles instead of letting the rear shove the front sideways
tightens turning radius (front is always trying to lead)
Reduces front-end bind when climbing

underdrive for the rear.
keeps the rear planted and stable
reduces wheelspin in back
helps prevent the rear from pushing the front off-line

one or the other dont go with both.

i personally go with overdrive for the front on all my crawlers, i want that front wheel grabbing traction and pulling it up then the rear wheels bite and up we go,
