My rc10gt is handling fine @ lower speeds but as gets faster sometimes it's making sporatic semi-hard lefts...i then have to quickly let off and steer it back away from the curb. It there something i can adjust or need to tighten? I"m driving it on pavement ...and put street tires on it thinking that would work..but still doing it....any ideas? Again it's only when i start getting into higher speeds...Thanks

You may have some severe vibrations causing radio interference, or a faulty reciever. I had a similiar problem untill I discovered that some al. was vibrating on my ST causing the problem. Then it happened again, so I had the reciever replaced under warranty. :)

It didn't really become noticable till i put the new engine on this week. Can't really recall it getting too out of control before now..of course it's running a little faster too...what is al? you said al. was vibrating...hmm..hopefully it's not the radio...i guess i could go through and make sure everything is tight,....

Nitro gets unpredictible at high speeds cuts left

I have an rc10gt ...that i recently replaced the engine on. Now...when it starts getting into the higher speeds it will sparatically cut to the left...causing me to have to brake and point it back @ the road...any ideas what could be causing this behavior? Thanks

Its too lean. Grab yourself a temp gun and give it a good tune. 1 indication would be the lack of smoke. Are you getting a good clean trail of blue smoke?

Well, i would check the bearings. I would also check the diff, to see if it is too loose or something.

I'm still getting quiet a bit of blue smoke...still in the break in process...it's just real sporatic...as it accelerates it will do fine..then all the sudden cut real hard to the left till i brake...then regain control again...

don't really think it's too lean...any other ideas?

Could it be a case of too much engine ?

thanks for the replys guys..i'll give it a look this weekend...engine seems to be running great...although still pretty rich...wanna take it nice and slow...it's pretty fast now though...if i can get past the steering problem

you think maybe the diff could be vibrating @ really high speeds or something ?

I had this problem (the glitching) but much worse. It was working fine, then I dropped an engine in and it would sporadically go WOT and hard right. Sometimes at high throttle, some mid, some just any old time it pleased.

After doing all the things mentioned in this thread and more (swapped crystals, new wiring, etc etc etc) I solved it by putting in a different receiver.

Usually you can make it go away with some of the things mentioned here, but it can be any metal vibration or even a metal-gear servo can interferre with your signal.

In my case, I have a friend who is **really** an electronic whiz, and he confirmed my theory: this engine I had was causing some harmonic interferrence; that is, the sound of the engine created a high pitch wavelength that actually interferred with the signal. After eliminating everything else, that had to be it.

Hopefully that won't be your case.

Does your steering twitch if you raise the rear tires off the ground and rev it? You can normally test a vibration glitch when you take the tires off the ground and rev the engine and watch everything very closely. I'm not saying to hold it WOT for 5 minutes, but just revving and whatnot you should be able to see a twitch here and there.

If it's not that, check your steering components. A sloppy ball cup or hinge pin here and there will cause sporadic things as well. My xxx-nt tracked nice and straight at any speed when it was new. After a gallon or so, it would weave all over. After replacing all sloppy ball cups and loose bearings, it straightened back up again.

Also, improper toe in/toe out will cause it to jerk to one side or the other at high speeds. You want a little toe in on stadium trucks on the front tires.

thanks guys ...i'll give it another whirl this week. I may even swap receivers and see what happens.

And if all else fails try adding alittle weight to the front end. You might just be alittle lite at speed. A friend had some troubles like yours but on dirt nothing helped it till he added 2oz to the front bumper then it went where he wanted it to.

i had the same problem with my nitro mt and my problem hsd to dwo with bent dogbones and axels everytime i would get up to higher speeds it would cut hard left then sometimes right. Depending on the timing of the high acceleration. so check to see if your dogbones or axels are bent.

you can tell if your accels or dog bones are bent if you can see your wheel wobble a slight bit or even alot when turning the wheel.

also not having enough weight in the front end could help cause a problem in steering
