Finally a resolution!!

Well since I was willing to put such a strong statement out there against OS and Hobby Services, it is my responsibility to let you all know of the conclusion. I called and emailed Hobby Services again recently explaining the problem and how I was less than pleased with the original service. I got a reponse from a specific person at Hobby Services this time with a pre-paid UPS label addressed directly to them and a promise to look at the situation personally. I sent the engine back last Friday and to my surprise the UPS driver just dropped off a brand new engine. That's like 3 days door to door. The note from the tech concurred that the piston/sleeve fit was too loose and that they decided to replace the whole thing.

I hope that they reacted so positively to this special situation because they found that the engine was actually defective and not just because I continued to pursue it and made it clear that wasn't pleased with thier original service. In any case I have a new engine now and can't wait to break it in and get running again.

Hobby Services did a great job at making sure I was happy. Whether they did it just to make me go away I'll never know. With all of the great things I have heard about the OS-18TM I am glad that I didn't give up on thier service. As a matter of fact, I just bought a second OS-18TM in case this one wasn't repaired.

Thanks for all of the support guys. I appreciate it.

All of my buddies that I raced with this summer at our track in Centerville go to CRCRC almost every weekend. I just learned that I can camp for the night right next to the building so I am trying to get my ride running reliably again so I can join them. I hope to run MT Friday nights and sleep in my trailer and then hang out and pit for them at UMT and biggy races on Saturday. I hope to race in the big race there in January. I think it's like the 16th or 20th.

well i put new oneway in tue. i ran 2 tanks this past sat. so far so good . race day is sunday the 11th. i will find out then if it is the motor or was a bad oneway .i did notice some play in starter shaft very little.i remember u saying somthing about some sloppy play in it can u explain more.well wish me luck an have a merry x mas

Well it's been two years since I started this thread. Kinda forgot about it. Anyway the replaced OS that they finally sent me is still running strong. I don't race like I used to but this little motor still wheelies the front end. I haven't even needed to break in the one I bought as a spare.

Good thing too cause I just picked up a sweet deal on another Revo 2.5R from Ebay and plan on dropping the new OS18 in it as soon as it arrives.

Going to do the center brake and diff mod to the new 2.5R and hopefully get back to the track regularly.

Despite what I said at the start I am a huge OS fan and just got unlucky with my first experience.

Good to hear that things ended on a positive note.
