More and more members are starting to get into the on-road scene so I decided to post the manufacturers write ups here so that they can be seen in one space. This list is in no particular order. These are just the most commonly "asked about" cars that I have been noticing on the forum.

I only did the list of cars with ROAR race legal specs since racing is a common factor with those of us running on-roads. At least those who want to go outlaw or just bash in the park can take the basics that are listed here and add their larger than .12 engines with a good knowledge of the car's characteristics.

Hope this helps those of you trying to make decisions.

Nice...
Just as a side note,
Yesterday one of my buddies brought a Tamiya TRF415. Man What a beauty this unit is. Everything was top shelf. I just kept looking and looking and looking at it and couldn't put it down. Everything was so well thought out and smooth. To bad the tag is 4 bills.

Good post. What about the Traxxas 4Tec. Is that car relevant?

Well, the reason I chose the cars that I did was because those were the ones that were most asked about; most commonly used in organized racing; conform to ROAR rules; came in kit form.

Hey, there is my SS 12 kit! With the same, out-of-date Firebird body no less!! Although I love my MT's and I am really getting into the buggy thing, I love running the SS around my street just to mess around with the neighbor. He has a really old RS4. The thing is a rolling pile of dung, but the sucker runs and runs and runs. He still has the original glow plug in it!

I am supposed to enter my first beginner race with the SS this weekend, but I'm having back problems so if I can't stand by Friday night, then I'm out. (unless I can bring a cooler full of beer to kill the pain)

What problems are you having?

When you race this weekend, make sure you have everything you need. I would make a check list and go over everything you need like spare parts, batteries, fuel and fuel bottle, extra plugs, spare tires, food & drinks, table, tools, Extra crystals ... and most importantly, don't forget to have fun!

i just started driving my first serpent ,talk about a high high end race car.makes my old rs4 look high a piece of garbage.

Not to bash the rs4 but the Serpent 710 is in a different class of the touring sedans and now you know why. The RS4 is a good car but it really needs to be worked on to get it to a competative level.

There is no doubt that a Serpent is in a different class than an RS4. An RS4 was basically designed as a shaft driven casual parking lot racer and it does not offer as much adjustability as a Serpent (or an R40 for that matter). The CG and the suspension motion are also better with the Serpent. Keep in mind that a good driver in a RS4 is going to beat a bad driver in a Serpent. The actual driving is probably the biggest factor.

When I finally got my act together in the mains this past weekend my RS4 18ss was keeping up with much more expensive cars until someone took me out. I expect to be fairly competitive this season after I gain experience.

The Serpent is a track/foam only car so I assume that you want to track the car. In these races alot of people crash and burn. If you stay off the boards and actually survive until the end of the race you will probably be in the top 4 of your class.

You are correct Ross. The driver does make the car and the driving IS the biggest factor. It's the driver that keeps the most clean and consistant line that will win the race. It's the "Kamikaze driver" that will crash and burn.

The MTX-3, serpent 710 and R40 was designed to be raced. Just by looking at the design, you'll know it was designed to win races.
