ok havin some trouble starting my maxx

alright just installed a new pullstart on my engine it was broken when i bought the truck, I installed a new glow plug and put some fresh fuel in it. I'm not sure what the needles are supposed to be set at i set the top needle to 2 turns out and I havent messed with the lower one, it is a megatech M-16 engine. I primed the engine and charged up the glow starter. why wont it start, any ideas guys??
 
You need to find out the factory settings for the needles. Guessing will lead to aggravation, if not a ruined engine. Find the settings, and if your sure the engine is broke in, lean them an hour from there. Prime the motor by blowing into the pressure line coming from the carb to the exhaust until you see fuel enter the carb. Try it. If nothing happens after priming, put your finger over the exhaust to move the fuel a little further into the engine. Let it warm up, and go from there with leaning. There's lots of info on tuning on the site. Do a search to learn how to fine tune 'er.
 
i have tried every conceivable carb setting and I can't get so much as a pop outta the engine I'm getting fuel to the carb and it has new plug and its glowing... what am I doing wrong??? is it just a lemon???
 
As close as I can find from the megatech site, the initial settings are:
HS(top?) - 3 turns out
LS(bottom?) - 4 turns out

if you have it to lean then there is not enough fuel getting to the engine
this could be why u can't start it
 
i finally got it, it was too lean I set the HSN flush with the collar and it started right up and purred like a kitten... LOL. BUT Then my glo starter crapped out so after i ran the tank out I couldnt start it back up. so now its off to my not so local hobby shop to get a new one... thanks for all the help guys!
