I have this old monster pirate truck, has super wide tires with a small offset so they stick out really wide. I've been to a few hobby stores and can't find any wheels that fit, or any tires as these are huge but have a small rim size. I was thinking about maybe cutting a section of the wheel to make it narrower to use any type of tire. I think the monster pirate uses the same parts as the ofna buggy but I'm not sure. Also the steering radius is huge and I believe is from the super wide wheels.

Any one have any idea what the numbers are for the wheels and tires, or a brand of wheel that will fit the axle.

I don't know any of the numbers, but you could check ebay for something that my fit.

Well, looking at towers part list, it appears to run 17mm hex's:

Looking at the tires/rims how they sit on the truck, I'd have to guess that standard sized rims would fit. Tower says the tires run a 74mm inner bead which is fairly close to standard MT tires:

With that in mind, and the photo's of the wheels on tower showing relatively normal offset:

You could run basically any 17mm hex MT rim be it 40 series or standard. It would make the overall stance narrower, but it doesn't appear that it would cause any clearance issues.

Tires/wheels off the savage XL would probably work for you. Might try skimming ebay for a cheap set to try.
Ebay Item#: 390126664980

These have 1/2" offset that will put the back of the rim closer to the hex to help avoid clearance issues:

Might be worth $15 to just buy a single set of the rims to try out and check fitment. Have your LHS order a set, then try and take them back if they don't...

thanks for the info, I found the wheels and tires on the ofna website. At some hobby stores the ones that would look like they would work were offset to deep as it would rub on the rear turnbuckle. We didnt take them out of the bag to verify but alot of rims have this much offset, so they may not work.

Funny thing I happened to find 3 traxxas wheel adapters for the monster pirate in my tool box, I assume its to mount traxxas wheels on it. I have no idea where the fourth one went but at least I can try and if it works buy them again. We havent run these trucks in about 6 years so who knows what I've bought for it in the past.

You might want to try the last ones I posted then, they are 1/2" beyond standard offset. This pushes the wheel out on the axle further. They make a few different styles I think, so if black isn't your thing, you can find chrome or white.

Yeah I like those black ones. Probably help the turning radius too as it sucks now.
