Hi.
My name is Kurtis and I'm 20 y/o. I live in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada.
I am looking to get my hands on a Savage Nitro truck, or T-Maxx Nitro truck.
They are worth about $750(CAD) and $800(CAD) each (there are 2 of them)
this guy got them for christmas and they have sat on their shelves, they have never been started even once, and the rest of the pieces are still in the plastic in the box. I can get the $750(CAD) one for around $300(CAD) and I'm guessing the $800(CAD) one for abou $350(CAD).
I have a few questions about this.
1. Is is a good choice for a new person to nitro r/c vehicles?? I have had r/c cars before but they are all electronic. I take well care of things that I have and I like to tinker around with stuff to make them perfect.

2. How much maintenance does a r/c nitro vehicle take?

3. Is this a good price for these r/c's or am i getting ripped off? I dont think I am getting ripped off since my LHS has them for about $700-$800.?

4. Do you have any reccomendations(sp?!?) on getting something else?

5. How much fun is the nitro r/c fad (not really a fad, just decided the other day that I would like to get into it, I have always liked r/c's as a kid and have had them alot, just nothing like this)?

sounds like a deal to me, if they have never been run and everything is still included with them. nitro requires a little more maintainance than electric and much more frequent cleanings. the savage is the more durable of the 2 trucks but both are good and easy to use for a beginner. i used to have all electric cars when i was about 13-18 years old. since i got back into it 2-3 years ago, I've decided nitro is the way for me. its more expensive and requires more mantainance and tuning, but i like the rewards of a real engine much better than an electric motor. sound, smell, power, all add to the fun. before someone argues than a brushless electric can be just as fast, they are expensive and dont stink enough or make the kinda mess i like :-)

231.790 USD

Thats kind of a good deal ... but i would defenatly ask and see how much gas has been ran though it and wear......... i dont thing it would be a very good buy if it has more than a gallon-gallon 1/2 ran though it

The trucks have never been run at all, he has just taken the trucks out of the ox and put them on a shelf on display. The rest of the stuff that came with them are still in the plastic. I dont think he has even filled the tanks with nitro......and he said they havent even been started.....so there ya have it.

Anyone else have any comments/questions?

Anyone have any reccomendations for a noob to this??? are these decent for a starter truck?? I dont know much about these, but as far as I can think they seem like they would be a ton of fun.

Anyone have any ups/downs to either type of truck? which would be a better truck for a starter, which has less troubles....etc?

I would say the savage would be a better starter truck. That is based soley on the finicky 2.5 engine that comes on the T-Maxx. I think you will be able to tune the savage alot easier, and with out a ton of money it will also make you happier in the long run. Both sound like a good deal. Check out the prices at a LHS, and EBAY

My LHS Prices are between $700-$800. So If I can get one for around $300 I think it should be a sweet deal. I think I'm gonna head up to see them and I will make my decision at that time. Hopefully I will become the newest member of a fun trend!

I'm sure you will be happy with either one. If you have any questions, your at the right place here at RCNT. Feel free to ask questions.

Thanks guys.

I'm sure I will have troubles with it and problems that I need help to fix.

Thanks alot.

Welcome to RCNT the best RC talk forum on the net. I feel that Monster Trucks are the best thing to have as a beginner they can be ran on any surface in any condition in your case that means SNOW! Both sound like a good deal but go with the Savage you'll be much happer in the end. Its a well built truck. Nitro does take a little more maintenece but if your a hands-on kinda a guy thats a plus. When you have any problems just come here were more than happier to help. Good Luck & remember go with the Savage.

I would go with the savage before the tmaxx. Its more durable, a little tougher to work on, but well worth it!

Went and took a look at the two trucks today.
They are in immaculate condition. Neither of them EVER started.
The T-Maxx is still in the box ( and the box is still wrapped in UNOPENED plastic) so its brand new.
I asked if he would take $300 for the Savage, and he said if I want to get that one for that price I HAVE to take both of them for $700.....I think its a super deal since my LHS retail price for both of them is $1500 + taxes = appx 1700 after taxes. If I am going to do this I will save about $1K, which I think is a great deal.

What I am thinking of doing is buying them both for the $700 he is asking for, keeping the savage21 and trying to sell the T-Maxx on ebay or by other means. I think I should be able to get a good $450 for it or so (since its brand new).

Anyone have any comments or questions about this now?
Anyone interested in buying the T-Maxx from me for $450 (CAD)($340-350USD),
If so message me or leave a post here about what you think

Sounds like you have it all figured out. I would think someone would give you $300-350 for the T-Maxx, since it goes for $399 new, and it is new. Good luck withe the Savage, and if you don't have to sell the T-Maxx you will like it too once you learn how to tune an engine well.

Thanks Hype.

I hope u are talking in US pricing with the $350 you think I can get for it????

Ben, First let me say that I think that the package deal you are being offered is a great deal. Now the bad news, I wouldn't count on getting $350 US for the T-maxx. I realize it's new in an unopened package, but the Tower hobbies price right now, after the $30 discount for a purchase in the 300-350 range is $335 US.

Now back to happier things..."Dude you're getting a savage"

Mr T

Mr T., If I can call you that........
I am not really hoping to get much more than that for it, If I can get the $330 USD for it I will be more than happy to let it go for that price.

Again, if anyone would be interested in getting it from me, I might be able to strike you a deal for it ;)

Yeah I was talking USD, but another thing I just thought of is you have to consider that a buyer doesn't know you from Adam. They might be nervous about paying the same price as Towe Hobbies, for example. I put it on E-Bay with the min. price you can afford as a reserve. After all it is new in plastic, so a potential buyer knows the condition. That is if keeping it is not an option.
