The Titan.....huh. I love many Nissans but they definitely seem to be very hit and miss as of late. Regardless of how well it performs ect that new Nissan SUV is buttugly and I wouldn't be caught dead driving it. The Nissan Xterra is popular as hell but I'll take my 94 Pathfinder over an Xterra anyday thankyou as they're way to underpowered, they look weird and "Intuitive placement" is the last thing that comes to mind when you c the interior and actually drive it. The new Nissan trucks are nice (especially the leather interior on some) but the Supercharged trucks leave much power to be desired considering how fast they suck gas.

The New 350Z Kicks ass and is a true sports car. I was 2 days away from getting one in the sweet LeMans Sunset (metallic orange) with "Orangish" hued tan leather. My buddy bought one on E-bay for way under book in the same color so I said phuck it. The new Z has a NASTY ass blind spot and you definitely need to learn to PROPERLY use your mirrors but hey it's a sports car..lol.

As for the Titan.....I drove one for a couple days and was very impressed to say the least. I never got to take the beast offroad but loved the interior styling and comfort and was impressed with exterior looks. Didn't Peterson's 4-Wheel drive name the Titan 4x4 of the year?? They sure as hell aren't giving that award to any ole truck. I know the Titan has gotten other accolades too.

Toyota's are very nice (My little bro just bought a new Lexus IS300) but like Jeeps, everyone has a Yota. I say phuck yeah, get the Titan.

Peace

I have my own reasons for not buying a japanese vehicle but that's my own reasoning. I will not force my opinions on others but I do know when to praise a vehicle's designs when due.

Titan did get a good review from peterson's. I don't know if it got truck of the year, but it was high up there in ranking. What I see is a lot of the Japanese trucks and suv's have been stepping up to the plate in engine/drive train performance. A lot of their "umph" was lacking when compared to their american counterparts. Now they are stepping up to the plate with the HP/torque ratings as well as size. Where they place their torque has yet to be discussed from truck to truck. Case in point, my wife's brother in law bought a Tundra with the V8 to replace his tacoma. The truck has a nice growl to it but torque comes higher up in the powerband, great for highway but wasn't a performer when towing.

The Titan, has 90% of it's power/torque (379lbs) kicking in below 2500 rpm which is great. It hasthe stump pulling power of the american trucks. Only thing is that it is stil a truck and a japanese truck at that and because it did away with a lot of the "older design" it's incorporating the new stuff (double overhead cam vs pushrod; weight reduction via aluminum block and forged cranks) it kinda falls short on breath when kicking down at highway speeds. Ride wise, it's very much a truck. bouncy and understeer which is inherent in higher cog vehicles. Get the off-road package and it will be more pronounced.

As a workhorse it's a good compromise and will give he american manufacturers a run for their money.

For me, I only have one word to say ... HEMI. The 2500 Ram with a 5.7 Hemi ... as Tim Allen says "Har har har har har"

BTW, YOTA in the Filipino language means F***. Just thought you would like to know :contract:

Hey DIver - You make some Valid points but they're obviously biased....aren't all opinons though(LOL)??

LMAO about the Yota bro.

You have the right american company but the wrong engine mi amici. If I actually needed one (fow towing) their's only one truck for myself and many americans. THe Dodge Turbo Cummings Diesel....a proven workhouse that best most anything on the planet. That Hemi is purely an old market reintroduction engine. Building a good v8 isn't exactly rocket science and it's one thing american manufacturers can do right. I'd be the farm that the V8 in the TItan outlasts the new Dodge Hemi possibly by a long shot. It's not opinion but fact that the new Hemi hasn't been around logn enough to a a truly proven powerhouse. We'll c in five years.

True True, but I was only comparing gasoline vehicles. Deisel is a whole different story. That's just pure, unadulterated power.

Hemi has been around for such a long time, basically started as a truck engine till "Big Daddy"Don Garlits took his hemi out of his truck and stuck it in his drag car. Let the races begin!

Biased? yup i am, but not pushing my ideals. But as I said, the japanese trucks are starting to catch up, but seems like they're competeing for more of the SUV crowd and weekend handyman. The contractors know where the power is.

Me, I drive a Tahoe Limited (2WD) sleeper. Strictly a highway hauler. L31A engine (slightly detuned vette engine with vortec heads), 4 inches lower than regular tahoe's, 3:41 gears (G80 eaton locker), Z56 police suspension/chassis, tweaked to top out at approx 130 (only has rev limiter, not top speed limiter). Have I reached top speed? not yeat, gets scary above 117 in an SUV. Will I reach it one day? probably. There's a History about this truck and how it came to be from Jon Moss's team of designers.Oh yeah, it's stock. Came with all the bells and whistles. Not too many options.

Yo diver man those Hemis man they get 8-9 mpg.And plus my dads 3500 with the cummins can rip the hemi a new a$$hole..(he duid it already)

That's one thing I shall not disagree with ya on..hehe. I got to drive my buddies Turbo Cummings Diesel powered dodge recently and...wow. I opened that beast up on the freeway pulling a boat roughly the size of yours and I think it gave me a woody...hehe If I was rich I'd buy one regardless of whether I or not I "needed" it for towing ect.. Long live american excess..eh. The new Hummer H2 is a joke @ best with a V8 gas engine regardless of power. Their's a reason that general Hummer put/s an oversized Diesel in their animals...smile.

Yes, Of course Hemi has been around and has MANY devotees (Myself being one of them) with American muscle fans. Like many ole Hemi lovers will attest to, this new Hemi is a redesigned engine not yet worthy of the Hemi badge in many peoples opinion. I think it's gonna gain true longterm praise amongst many but long term reliability and longevity is always going to be in question.

You'll have to elaborate as to the Contrary, the Japanese have been ahead of the game for years in a plehtora of major ways my man. I definitely agree with ya about some Weekend Warriors driving V8 Yotas. The best examples of the Japs being ahead of the game in major ways......

1.We put the first men on the Moon but why can't americans build a good AutoMatic tranny?? Cause our engineers are incapable of building a good auto tranny? It's a rhetorical question of course. Most automatic american trannies are crap because they don't give a phuck and the american consumer takes it up the arse. Profits before people of course.

2. Americans couldn't/can't build a powerfull and still reliable 4cyl. THe Japs like Honda have been obcessing for years with 4cyl technology for lower emissions and gas conservation. ALL of the american manufacturers had to contract the Japs to build 4bangers during the gas crissis of the 70's (eerr late 60's) when they got caught with their pants down.

NICE truck bro...that's not my cup of tea personally but I always give credit and respect where it's due. I wouldn't mind going on road trips in that beast. A good friend (mad scientist mechanic) of my father and I are actually in the works of building a mean phucking Scout II with an LS1 vet engine. Kinda of overkill power for four wheeling but it's gonna be fun as hell.

Nitro, yeah the japanese have been ahead of the game in many aspects of the automotive industry. But as I said, I am biased in the sense that if it's not an american V8 I won't buy it. If I have to make a choice for an import, it'll be from across the pond, aka I'll buy german engineering and other european brands available to us, automatic tranny? ... I prefer standard above automatics anyway. Only get automatics when I have no other choice. 4 cyl? I prefer american V8's, Only get a V6 if I have to (my "kamikaze" is a Taurus wagon). If you're gonna get a V8 don't bother thinking about gas mileage. If you do, you'll never drive it. The Hemi? Yeah I agree with you on that ... just a regular engine with a hemispherical head but not the true Hemi tuning of days passed. The true Hemis of old had matching high cmpression domed pistons.

What strikes me is that the average american joe can't drive a manual transmition but yet the automatic is considered less reliable than the japanese automatic. They are already hitting 5 speed automatics (via a split gear ratio) and we are still only offering 4 speeds for the automatics. Go figure, as long as the big three are making money, they'll sit there with their thumbs up their rears.

Jon Moss and John Colletti are the "big wigs" for the performance departments for GM & Ford. There's tons of "toys" that have been made for SEMA and the International Auto shows but have been squashed by the politics of the manufacturers.

Oh well, I too have my preferences but just as you, I too can appreciate the innovations of other automakers.

BTW, there's never overkill when it comes to power needed in any car or truck. It's just how you go about to get that power.

my dad has trhe turbo cummin HO(high output) 6 speed manual. He pulls his skidsteer and attachments roughly weighing 9,600.he can pull that thing done the high way in 6 gear and around 60 mph and it is only at around 3000rpms and it is still climbing. Yea thos H2 our a fncking joke if i wanted a hummer i would go with the H1,the H2 are built on a Yukon chassis.he beats that trucwith plowing and about 2,800 pounds in the bed of the truck when it is snowing, he love the truck but he said he misses the gmc 3500 diesel he had it had a smother ride and poop..But i am looking atround for my first truck,i am looking for a gmc, chevy,or doge 1500 with either a diesel or gas engine, and hopefully only minor body work so hopefully i can get a job this summer and forget about the r/cs if i break sumthin.

Pinoy to the bone!! Are you?

MABUHAY!!!!

100% filipino. Grew up here but parents only taught me their dialect, I never practiced it so I forgot. Then I lived there for the better part of almost 3 years while I went to college so I picked it up again and made sure I never forgot it. Tagalog ... well, that's a nother story. Never really practiced it but I can understand a lto better than I can speak it. Wife is from the same dialect as me (she grew up there) so I know I'll never forget my dialect.

Thats cool!!! I was born there in but I came here when I was 3. I always like to say I am an Island born! I was born right in Quezon City but lived in Manila. I have been here for wuite some time. I want to go back for a few years to really understand my roots. I want to pass that along to my kin.

Anyways, Back to the thread... I still would get the Titan as I have had so much better luck on quality and durability. :sorry:
