According to the site, 7.2v is the max which is 2s Lipo.
If you want to roast hotdogs then use 3s. :D
Seriously 2s is max.
Could I possibly upgrade it somehow to where I could use 3s? Like maybe upgrade the ESC and add fan's to ESC and motor?

I would say no. It seems to lean towards toy grade than hobby grade.
I would purchase a hobby grade rig.
Top name brands have a ton of available parts as long as the rig isn't discontinued.
This one, Walmart also sells so it's no doubt toy grade.
Even if you could upgrade to 3s electronics, you will very quickly blow out the drivetrain and diffs.
Don't waste your money on it. Harsh words I know but it will NEVER last.

I agree with the Frog. Bumping up to a 3s would more likely strip out your gears and burn up your motor. After you spend all that money on upgrades, you might as well buy a 1/10 scale that already handles 3s. However, if you were to get your car running on a 3s, your car would shatter if you were to crash.

As other have said, this platform won't handle 3s very well. It is a Hosim rebrand, which are actually decently durable for the price as long as you leave them stock. Not toy grade, far from it... but definitely on the low end of hobby grade. They're not *that* bad, I've owned a couple... they're better than the "budget" options a decade ago. The drivetrain and stock electronics just will not handle 3s power stock, which is why the brushless versions of the same car use metal drivetrain components.

You could put a new ESC, brushless motor in it, upgrade the drivetrain and the 2in1 ESC/Reviever combo is going to force you to buy a radio as well. By the time you buy everything you need, you'll be looking at well over the original price of the car and not far from, if not more than the purchase price of something like an Arrma Gorgon. The gorgon has a lot more head room for upgrading and going fast since it's got a much more stout drivetrain and is physically larger.

These cheaper RC's are great to dip your toes into the hobby, but they're not meant to sustain you in the long term. Enjoy it for what it is and save up for something with a bit more support.

It is a Brushless version of the Sonic? So it is already Brushless set up. I bought a wiaorchi 1/14 Brushless rc car. Which turns out is not true to scale. Cause I can enter changes parts from my 1/16 scale laegendary brushless sonic. Hmm go figure. Anyway, the 1/14 wiaorchi is brushless with the same size motor as the brushless Sonic and it runs on a 3s 2000mAh battery. That's why I was figuring I could run a 3s on my brushless Sonic.

As far as it shattering if I were to crash it, if I were to run it 3s. Well...this laegendary sonic literally got ran over by a full-sized suv(a suburban). The only thing that happened is it crushed 3 of the tires, broke a steering cup and a tiny crack in the chassis. $40 fix. I was totally impressed with that. That's 1 reason I really like this laegendary sonic. It's a lot tougher than you might think it is. I kinda think that maybe the ESC might not handle 3s. But the manufacturer says it will handle a 3s. So I don't know. Lol

It is a brushless version of the Laegendary Sonic.

The overwhelming theme here is that for your money, there are far better rc's with higher quality parts that you could be spending your money on.
If you want to run your truck on 3s, have fun!
I had a DeeRC that I overpowered and over motored. It was fast and fun.
It indeed did sustain more damage with higher speed impacts. Thats just physics. 🤣
It also blew itself apart. It would NOT stop stripping spur gears.
I eventually gave up on it. It and all its upgrades are useless to me. THIS is what ppl are warning you to watch out for.
I have a 30 year old Kyosho that I am working on right now.
Its WAY better built and I can STILL get parts for it today. After 30 years, no regrets! 😍

Another perspective... racers race every week. They need tough, durable cars with superior parts coverage so they can be competitive on the track.
There is no Laegendary race team. 🤷‍♀️

It is a brushless version of the Laegendary Sonic.
My bad. I definitely didn’t excel at reading in high school 🤦‍♂️

I couldn’t find anything in the manual for the brushless ESC as far as voltage rating. May be able to look the model number up and see if you can find a spec sheet for it.
