Hi all,
Got my first rc car yesterday. A Savage XL :D
Run it in fine and now I have a couple trouble I was hoping I could get some help with.
When I try to lean the fuel it bogs down when I accelerate hard.
With the factory settings the car runs @ about 130degress ( about 260f I'm guessing?)
Also when I brake the car stalls.
Can anyone help?? And yes I know I'm a noob!
Cheers! :D

when you hit the brakes check the carb opening. it should be about 1 mm open. move the idle screw clock wise to increase the idle and to open the carb by 1 mm.also check that the wheels should not move when idling.
richen the high speed needle 1/8 of a turn from your current settings till the engine runs smooth at full throttle.

Thanks for the reply.
The problem is I have turned the carby clockwise all the way in and it still stalls. Adjusting idle on controller doesn't help either...
Cheers!

I just got my first nitro, a savage xl too.... I had the same problem too. Set the trim on the controller to nuetral and then adjust the idle screw 1/4 turn while its running and on a stand so it wont take off on you. Try hhitting the brakes while idling, if it kills keep turning is clockwise. Oh by the way i have a stampede vxl w/9cell, what a piece o crap compared to the savage xl. I took it out today to the park and launched it for a hour strait off of a kicker ramp. :) This thing flys like an eagle. I couldnt be more impressed with this truck.

First of all, you shouldn't be punching the throttle. It's not fully broken in for performance yet.
Turn your trim on the radio down to zero, then set your idle without running the engine, but looking into the carb. Open it from 1 to 2 mm, then start it. Let it warm up, then adjust your LSN till you get a smooth idle. You might want to adjust the idle screw also to get the 2 to work together.

Hi,just got a savage xl 5.9! It starts up no problem, idles nice and runs well until full throttle!!it bogs and when I let go,it just idles! But when I keep full throttle, it will just bog and then stall!!! Any ideas? Thanks

It took me awhile to get the tune right on my xl after my fuel change but I got it. For some reason when I leaned out the hsn to 1.5 turns past the groove, the engine responded well and ran about 250 or so. You can also cut your front window out partially to keep the temps low. You want the engine not to bog or machine gun while running it.

Mine did that as well you just have to find the sweet spot on you HSN I was taught to adjust it about 1/16 at a time once warmed up. Once you find that point write down how far from groove you have it set at so you can find it after breakdown and cleaning.
