Hi all I am new to the R/C scene. I am waiting for my T-Maxx to come in I have a few questions

is $380 a good price for brand new t-maxx?
is there a tool starter kit or some type of starter kit?
what accessoris should i buy right from the begining?
is there any extra literature anyone can send me before i destroy this truck

I'm the kind of person when i do something i try to do it right I have a big back yard and I'm going to put in a dirt track any suggestions on that?

and finally is there anything that i forgot to ask?

$380 is a good price for the Maxx.

You can get a basic nitro starter kit but all you really need to get started is fuel, AA batteries for transmitter and reciever, battery pack and charger for the EZ Start, extra glow plugs and glow plug wrench. Traxxas also recomends WD-40 to put in the carb and glow plug hole after running.

The best thing you can do before you put a drop of fuel in the tank is to read the manual cover to cover and watch the DVD. Be sure to follow the proper break-in procedure.

If you are going to put in a track, be sure to put in some nice jumps. Don't be shy on jump size either. Make them so the Maxx will fly.

I plan on using it hard i dont want to showboat it i have been looking at the after market parts and how to beef it up but before i get into that i need to find out what parts will actually make it tougher like the transmission plate etc... i dont want to just add parts that dont really make a diffrence. i figure the base price is going to be the least of the money spent. i also want to know the best way to speed it up

and i wont skimp out on the jumps I'm actually going to buy dirt tommorow to start building this track.

RPM parts are a great place to start. Not aluminum...nice solid plastic that is near indestructible. Keeps the weight and cost down. Plus if you manage to break something...well RPM will send you a replacement no questions, just send them the damaged goods.

As for speed...you can either get a better engine which solves only part of the problem. The rest is in gearing and weight. Keep the truck light. Up the number of teeth on the clutch bell (ie get a larger one) and lower the number of teeth on the spur gear (ie get a smaller one). I recommend RRP hardened clutch bells and their slipper disk set up for the spur gear. Adjust as you see fit from stock. Realize you trade torque for top speed so it will be slightly slower off the line and in climbing, but it will rock when it gets up to speed. SO....if your backyard track does not have any long straight-aways leading into those monster jumps you will not get the best air you expect because it will not get to its top speed in time.

Other mods to the engine, include porting the engine. A better air filter. A tuned pipe will give you a little performance boost (and I mean a little...might just be barely recognizable).

Other than that...the rest is up to you and your imagination.

GET RECHARGABLE BATTERIES. its about $50 for 12 but they pay for themselves in no time....I'm not a tmaxx man so thats all i got
