Hi - any advice appreciated - this is my first RC car. My son got a brand new 1/10th car for xmas and that fired up fine and we tore up the garden yesterday :) but the savage has not started yet :deadhorse

I have a used Savage X (4.2 I believe) which I am advised did run fine

I cannot get the Rotostart 2 to spin. I have charged the battery - the 'intelligent' charger confirms charge is complete - and volt meter advises 8.2V (without load). The Rotostart 2 does not spin, not even when not connected.

Secondly - I attached an electic drill - worked out which way the one way bearing goes and tried to start - the very first time, I got a bit of a pop but nothing since - will not start. I am using a quality 20% fuel - have cleaned the air filters and put a bit of oil on them.

Is the Bosch 550 watt drill not fast enough?
What could be wrong with the rotostart 2?
Anything else?

Thank you

Glow plug is confirmed good by checking with a fully charged igniter?
Fuel is getting to the engine?

What's the temp when you're trying to start it? Cold weather can be a hassle. Try warming it up with a hair dyer/heat gun, make sure it's primed and open the throttle slightly with the trim on your transmitter and give it another try.

OK - established the switch was broken on the roto 2 - have now replaced this with a £1.09 switch from Maplin - now the Roto Start 2 works. Just going out for another try to start the car...

Thank you for your assistance - I have started the car - about 50 times, so it does start, but will not run fast enough to get the car moving (just cuts out). I have tried some primitive tuning but to no avail, so shall search the threads for tuning advice.

Thanks again

Try resetting the needles back to factory settings. The HSN should be set at 4 1/2 turns from fully closed and the LSN is 3 turns from fully closed.
