Hello, I recently have done the conversion to the 2.5R Traxxas motor in my Nitro Sport Se. Useing the stock Clutch Bell and Clutch shoes i was just able to break in the new engine till the bell part was sheared from the spur on the bell clutch. I have recently bought a stock replacemnt 20 tooth bell and a new pair of stock shoes. i was able to put about two hours on them till they both started slipping. i tried cleaning them both and roughing up the shoe and the inside of the bell to prevent them from slipping. this worked for about 15 minutes till they both started slipping again. any recomendations on what to do. or what is happening or even a new clutch bell and shoe combo to pick up.

It sounds like a god idea. I would like a second opinion. it seems that this set of shoes burnt out so fast. is this normal? do i need to buy stock in these shoes?

Is your drivetrain binding anywhere? Are you driving in tall grass? Did you de-oil the bell and shoes prior to installation?

All of these things will make them slip and burn up.

Are you sure it's your clutch slipping and not your flywheel slipping? Or possibly your slipper clutch? You went to a more powerful engine, tightening down your slipper clutch will be a must.

I sure it's my clutch spinning, i see sparks sometimes flying out from behind the bell when i tried to rev it. and it drove fine for 2 hours. the grass was on the taller side, mabey 3 inches tall. would you think that a set of the metal aluminum shoes would ware slower. the shoes had a shiney serface on the parts that grab onto the bell. also as for my flywheel i can stop the car by stopping the flywheel so i feel that it's on tight. i really think it's something to do with the clutch shoes and bell.

Aslo the clutch would sometiems grab on every now and then when on flat ground.

for deoiling the bell and shes i sprayed them with nitro cleaner. after it started slipping and rubbed them doen with sandpaper. worked for 15 min then slipping again.

Aluminum might help, but they require more maintenance the composite shoes. I think nova makes some nice ones out of 7075 for the t-maxx and revo, which I think are the same shoes as what your dealing with. Although, it seems kind of odd that your frying shoes that quickly anyway.

Maybe try the t-maxx ones I posted above. They might be a little bit thicker so your contact patch would be wider on the bell.

ok i just went with the stock shoes, the tmaxx shoes, tmaxxs metal shoes, and a 18 tooth bell for ha has. i wil lsee how long one of these lasts.

the shoes don't seem to like the first 20 tooth bell i got. but all of the shoes i've had and the ones i just got all work fine with the new 18 tooth bell.
