This is the very first RC car I ever owned. Bonus points if you can identify it. It's apart because I blew the plastic gears in the diff, and can't find any.

I see them on eBay every once in awhile, but, honestly, for what it is, i have no plans to ever spend that much for basically a shelf queen, especially since most parts arent available anymore (it needs diff gears, but they havent been available anywhere for quite awhile now). I do have a couple vintage cars i run once in awhile (Tamiya TL01 (currently apart for a bearing upgrade), Kyosho Ultima (been apart for about 6 months, needs a new bearing set since a couple seized the last time i ran it), Kyosho Scorpion (ran very rarely anymore)). I have enough newer vehicles that the vintage stuff i have gets ran very sporadically, typically when I'm feeling nostalgic.

My favorite RC of all of time is the Kyosho Turbo Scorpion. Mine is the 2014 re-release version, but I still won't run it. I almost bought an Ultima last month, but had other things I needed instead. Still waiting on the Javelin to come back in stock.

Those are gorgeous, I want every one. Especially the beetle...

That is a really clean car. Mine, no matter how much i clean them, never look like that after 3 or 4 runs. I had several original Kyosho cars. Of the Kyosho's i had, my favorite was always the Raider, second was the Scorpion. Of the Optima and Ultima, the only one i ever owned was a used Optima, that i sold to buy my first raider.

Which Beetle though? The Monster Beetle? The Sand Scorcher? The 2WD on the M chassis? I had both an original and a re-release Monster beetle, and i never really liked either one, but, i am also partial to buggies and short course trucks.

I was digging through a box of vintage parts i have, looking for a servo saver for my TL01, and came across the old Novak Duster Sport ESC that was in one of my TL01's. I dont even know if it works anymore, but, if it does, its going back into the 01 I'm currently refreshing.

The kyosho reissued beetle.

Kind of hard to find without over paying. Maybe next year they will be easier to get. Some of the other reissues can be found on eBay. Nice kits.
The Beetle only ships to the states about once per year. If you want one, it's easier to source the body, wheels, and body mount set and put it on a Scorpion or Turbo Scorpion.
