What servo are you running?

I couldnt even tell ya. I think it might be a stock one, i never changed the steering servo yet. I bought the truck used though. but it was stock. didnt even have a pipe til i got my hands on it.
 
when my truck sits on a carpet and i try to make it turn, it doesn't have enough torque.

That's because there is total resistance on the wheels. Very few servos will turn the wheels fully when the truck is not rolling.
It's like trying to turn the wheel in a big truck without power steering when you're sitting still, vs. when you are driving.
You should still upgrade to a better hi torque MG servo, and use the present servo for your throttle.
