I notice that my car gets so dirty off the side every time I run it... Is it because of my tuning settings.... It's OS 18

thanks

what connection would you have between the engine settings and common earth dirt?

Nothing to do with your tuning settings. Happens to everybody. Spent fuel/oil sprays out of the exhaust stinger onto your ride with helps the dirt stick. If you didn't have any residue coming out of your stinger, you would be running way way too lean and after awhile you wouldn't have to worry about it because you would smoke your mill.

What are you running?

the exhaust isnt really the main cause, the tyres are!
They are flicking up small peices of dirt on every full turn, sadly i can't find any mud guards so a regular clean is in order.

you can get a exhaust deflector. Basically a small rubber boot on the small pipe of your exhaust. It will help some of it, but your always gonna get the residue on it. is that what your getting mostly or just dirt? Cuz if its dirt, that just means your having to much fun! (I have to clean my savay afetr every run. I spray it down with Simple green and take the airhose to it and blow off all the crap. Works good. Try to avoid the elctrics though)

Actually kurtf5, it is the exhaust that creates the majority of muck and gunk on a R/C car. As robmob mentions, the exhaust emits oil and unburnt fuel which acts like glue to dirt, so instead of falling off the body, it sticks to it. Sure, tires do kick up dirt and the like, but it sticks because of the exhaust.

As for mud guards, you can make them out of scrap Lexan. I've done it for my Revo, but they didn't last too long!

As for redirecting the exhaust, it's possible, just depends on how your mill is installed (orientation) and if there is a header pipe that'll do it. I know MIP makes some headers that curl towards the rear, but then the issue becomes one of mounting the muffler.

They make rubber exhaust deflectors (forget who makes em). Towerhobbies has them I'm pretty sure. They will work on any exhaust that doesn't have a re-inforcer (like the Jammin JP-2.) That should fix your problem.

I dont have an air hose, i dont clean my cars often either lol
But when i do, i just use tissue and push it down the sides and it does get alot of dirt, when i want to do a better job, i get a small cup of petrol and put some over the engine, exhaust and the chassis and use a paint brush to flick dirt out.
Also is WD40 ok to use as after run oil? The guy at my LHS said it works well, which it does because i have tried it.

thats ok then, i remember cleaning my car with it ages ago and loads of dark brown slop came out lol its been pretty clean since though.
