Hey so my sons base camp can tow around 20 lbs before I start to worry about something breaking.
I'm thinking I need to start upgrading it so it doesn't snap
Where should I start?
Suspension? I need it to be mucho stiffer
Weight down low in front? The front lifts up costing me turning ability as well as pulling power hell I'm thi king about.just throwing a chunk of iron under the hood to push the front down for now
Rear axle? I guess switching to billet axles? Soooo expensive!!
Rear diffs? Drive shafts?
What kind of transmission? I want motor to tow at normal walking.pace not go fast so geared lower? I have no experience with most of this stuff
I've been watching a LOT of videos on how to build a tow rig but their all pulling sleds so are concerned with wheel speed where as I'm more concerned with torque
Or would I be better off getting something else to toe larger amounts of weight?
I known I've mentioned this in multiple threads but this post os more a direct question on the Basecamp and drivetrain/suspension/durability question with a back uo towing question

I've had great luck with the stock axial wr8 driveshaft. I've beaten on it and it's pretty durable. I am looking at rc4wd drive shafts for a more scale look, jeeps after all are taught to roll over and play dead. 🤣🤣

I use a 3 gear ax10 tranny with great success. They even have metal gears as an option and a dig minus a part or two will allow 2wd to 4wd operation.

Weight or sockets on the front will work along as they don't hop in the steering links. The ring and pinion should have a machined hopup from axial if it's casted.

What motor and esc are you using? Fans in saud combo?

You know about the scx6...... there are cheaper 1/8 crawlers they maybe better due to size? I have a scx10ii and looking at the scx10.3 extremely heavily. These are capable trucks fir what they are.

Trans like this?

Scx6 is out Of question as I doubt I'll even be able to afford that with ne tax return even
Currently a quickrus fusion pro 2in1 motor
I've never looked for a 1/8 crawler didn't know that was a thing!

I think @Tunedfrog has that tranny. I do too but haven't used it yet. The one I'm using is og axial but it's along the same style. I'm making sure your brushless. Pulling on a brushed setup feels like a 2 cylinder ranger vs a top of tge line current diesel running brushless. Can be done but feels right when brushless.

If you’re on Facebook check out the ‘RC PULLERS ONLY’ group

There’s a handful of guys with some heavily modded SCX10s that pull in the work stock and pro stock classes. You could probably get some good info from those guys.
